I have just moved to my startup Beelvus HQ to start some hard work to accomplish something powerful, to achieve my startup goals. I feel free, away from family/friends discussions and arguments but this isn’t enough, I should work, work and work to accomplish my startup goals and .. well nevermind.. I strongly advise you to move to your startup HQ and move your teammates (specially web developers and UI designers) to watch them working and they’d work together and achieve more.
Well, to create a great startup you should figure out what change you would make in the world.. Your startup should make a difference to your users’ lives. That’s what really matters! You really shouldn’t start your company before you are sure your startup will make a difference!
Begin researching the industry and your competitors, the most important thing after knowing your startup/company industry,field and goal.. you should research more about the industry and know more about your competitors , features they offer, check whether they offer a mobile application or not and know more about their goals and ambitions to be ready for the next challenge you may face soon or sooner.
Your startup/product name, Yes! it’s important.. much more than you think. Suppose your startup offers new way to social networking.. Should it be name “Socialnewgreatwebsite”?! NO! Shall I remember that long name?! You can shorten it and make it smaller to let your users remember your startup name and to be able to browse it and search for it on mobile apps stores whenever they feel like it.
Design a good logo, Create a logo for your startup which makes you proud of your startup.
Website or mobile app? Why not both! You should really know how you’d offer your service, Should it be offered through a mobile app or a website or both?! You should answer this question carefully because it’s really important for your customers.. As a customer, I should figure out whether I should use your service through computers or through my mobile or tablet.. If it’s a messaging application, suppose I’d register for your service using my mobile number.. I may want to send a message to my friend -through your app- but I can’t use my mobile right now, Why shouldn’t I be able to use your service through my computer?
Build your pitch deck. Fund needed? this would be highly important.
Get feedback on the pitch deck, Hesitated? well, you’re an entrepreneur you should’ve had relations with entrepreneurs, so get feedback from mentors, advisors, friends and your family may be helping.
A cofounder? If needed, search for a cofounder, if his skills needed to achieve more for your startup.
An intern? You should have some interns whose skills complement each other.
Lawer, a law firm is important for your startup when you want some legal advice or when you’re ready to incorporate.
Open your company bank account.
When you’re ready to expand, Create employee agreements for everyone.
Create your Restricted Stock Unit (RSU) plan and/or your stock options plan that enable you to provide equity ownership and incentives to your employees to gain ownership in the company over time. Often you want to vest those options over a period of four to five years.
Issue your stock certificates to yourself and to your initial founding team.
Fund your startups’ bank account, to be ready to expand.
Raise any initial capital you need.
Get a company debit card and credit card.
Find an office, even if it’s not that office/HQ you imagined, I’m sure you and your mates will have fun working on your project/app and teammates would complement their work together.
Start your alpha/prototype, please don’t worry it’d be fine. it’d be turly fine. TRUST ME!
Install a tracking tool like Google Analytics on your website.
Sign up for an email list tool like iContact or MailChimp.
Optimize your website for the search engines, add content, overviews about your products or start a blog and share more about your work.
Install a Customer Relations Management (CRM) system, it’s a tool that can track your customer base and the interactions you have with your customers and users.
Hire your initial staff, to be able to begin your operations.
Create your company values and mission statement.
Announce your startup/company/product launch event/conference, Whoaa! We’re coming guys!
Tell local media and famous technical bloggers you know.
Hold a great launch event, a launch conference/ event you’ll be proud of forever.
Start to expand, start your first one million dollars journey..
Start hiring people, to achieve more and to satisfy your customers.
Start ad-campaign, specially on Facebook and try Google Adsense.
Track your customers, track reviews on Twitter and Facebook and create a hashtag.
Create a YouTube video promoting your product.
Attend events, and socialize with other entrepreneurs.
Create an employee directory, once you get beyond a handful of employees.
Begin reviewing your profit and loss (or your income statement) and your balance sheet monthly.
Establish your vacation policy, your employees should have some rest.
Start an offline advertising campaign, start growing and expanding, reach more users!
Create an offsite work policy, Not all your employees would be able to work onsite because of their educational process or they may be busy doing something else or they may be in a country away from your startup HQ, so they should be working remotely.
Update your pitch deck, with the new data, new mentors, and new team members.
Hire an Executive Assistant (EA) or an office manager to manage your schedule and the business’s day-to-day tasks.
Get connected to investors through people you know.
