Today I will be talking about the ride The Matterhorn in Disneyland! The Matterhorn was opened in 1959. Walt wanted to build a toboggan ride in his park. When he was thinking of building a toboggan ride he was also filming the movie Third Man on the Mountain. Walt loved the Matterhorn so much he sent a picture of the Matterhorn to an Imagineer and the letter said, “build this.” The Matterhorn was above the height limit for buildings at the time. Only sports related buildings could be taller than the height that the Matterhorn was at (147′). So Walt Disney decided to put a basket ball hoop on the top of the Matterhorn.
The maximum speed the Matterhorn can go up to is 27 mph. Today the Matterhorn still stands tall being the tallest attraction in the park. Well that's all I will be talking about today! For future planning I will do peter pans flight!
