Guardians of Earth

By Mohamed Faris, Junior Reporter for the Light House

Every year Earth Day is observed in IHS but this year it was unique. The biology department of 9–10 boys collected Dhs.2 from each student and pooled to buy potted plants for each class. Respected Principal of the 9&10 section Mr.Abraham Manohar distributed the potted plants to each class monitor of the section. Also, the section supervisor Mrs. Sonia Kohli and Principal Mr. Manohar adopted a plant.

Students pledged to take utmost care of the plants and work for a greener and better tomorrow. At the end of the academic year, the plants will be inherited by the upcoming class and so on. Most of the classes have been enthusiastic about the concept and they have named their plants! Furthermore, the plants will be looked after the school gardeners during the summer and winter breaks.

We are in a state of planetary emergency, with environmental problems piling up high around us.If we do not conserve and protect the environment ,then the end of Earth is not far. This initiative by IHS is the first of its kind, and first of many more to come!
