The Investiture Ceremony

By Afif Bellikunhi, Senior Reporter at Light House

“A true leader has the confidence to stand alone, the courage to make tough decisions, and the compassion to listen to the needs of others. He does not set out to be a leader, but becomes one by the equality of his actions and the integrity of his intent.’’ — Douglas MacArthur.

The investiture ceremony took place on the 28th of May. The day was full of anxiety and trepidation as the auditorium was filled with proud parents and valiant friends. The ceremony began with an awe-inspiring speech by the Headmistress Mrs. Latika Narain and it was a proud moment for the leaders as this was to be the day they were given a colossal task of utmost responsibility.

The distribution of badges was soon underway with the Principal and section Supervisors handing out the badges to the young leaders. What followed was a short presentation on the house systems of the school and then the oath ceremony where the leaders pledged to take up this mountainous task with due diligence and integrity. The House Masters and Mistresses were then introduced and had to distribute the house ties to their respective house leaders. Following that were 2 remarkable speeches given by the Head Boy — Darpan Sheth and the Head Girl- Anagha Manoj

It was a delightful moment for the both of them as they addressed the audience and expressed their gratitude towards their parents and teachers who have supported them throughout their journey. They both described it as a moment that they’ve been eagerly waiting for as it was their dream to one day, lead the school. The Head boy later said, ‘’ This has been one of my goals for a long time and I am extremely gratified to have been able to achieve it, my parents are delighted with what I have achieved and nothing makes me happier than that .’’

The ceremony ended with a collective photo session of the newly appointed leaders and we hope that bright young minds become global citizens of the future and use their strengths as a small group of young leader to one day, change the world.
