I’m only sweet when I’m high

I’m only sweet when I’m high
Keep the drugs in my mind.
My stash, up in the cranium
Radioactive like Uranium.

On power,
Bring’em up like growing flowers
Or just indebting the “lowers”

On pride,
Can’t let this mane slide
Perhaps I’ve got too much to hide.

On compliments,
Feed my ego on the go
I’ll bring you out of your low.

On devotion,
A hopeless romantic who needs that lotion
I’m hard to love but I love too hard

I’m only sweet when I’m high
Waiting for the day, waiting for the drug
Overdosed — diagnosed as possession, obsession
Underdosed — diagnosed as insensitive, incompetent
Taken under direction
Acts like Love
But I never had an easy time estimating my dosages.

Waiting for the day I’ll be high
But high on vitamins, positives.

Hopefully I’ll still be sweet when I’m high.
