LIVING IN HIS DIVINE PROMISES

- God’s promise of doing the impossible

A brother called a feast because the wife after many years of childlessness bore a child. That was natural but the miracle here was that her wife’s womb had long been cut off. So humanly she cannot have a child without a womb but the impossible happened. She bore a child herself, yes, she carried the pregnancy for the gestation period and delivered. Not surrogate mother, no doctor’s intervention or test tube baby. With God all things…

With God all things are possible. You can move mountains, declare creative miracles and surmount the so called impossible. .

Luke 18:27, NKJV.

“But He said, “The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.”

- Impossible (adunatos) that is without strength, impotent, powerless, weakly, disabled. Who disabled you or your structures? Have doctors declared your case barren, terminal, incurable, hopeless etc.? Claim his promise. See creative miracles — short legs and hands grow out. See little turn to full by multiplication principles. See destinies change and lives transformed. Will you learn to keep your promises too? Yes, you are not God but you are a child of God.

- GOD’S PROMISE OF DELIVERANCE AND PROTECTION

Psalm 91:2–6 (AMP)

I will say of the Lord, He is my Refuge and my Fortress, my God; on Him I lean and rely, and in Him I [confidently] trust!

For [then] He will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence.

[Then] He will cover you with His pinions, and under His wings shall you trust and find refuge; His truth and His faithfulness are a shield and a buckler.

You shall not be afraid of the terror of the night, nor of the arrow (the evil plots and slanders of the wicked) that flies by day,

Nor of the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor of the destruction and sudden death that surprise and lay waste at noonday.

- God will provide safety for the name of the Lord is a mighty tower and the righteous run into him and are safe (Prov. 18:10, Psalm 138:7)

- God gave me this song as I was praying. The message will help you. Imagine me singing it to you now.

***

1. As I was praying, singing and worshiping my Lord. He said son come go tell my people that I love them-

(He said) Tell them (3×) that I died. Tell them (3×) that I rose.

Tell them (3×) that my mercies never end.

Tell them (3×) that my love never grow old.

He say, Tell them (2×) I am a man of war.

He say, Tell them (2×) that my weapons never run out.

He say, Tell them (2×) that my powers never run down.

He say, Tell them (2×) that my fountains never run dry

2. Thou shall not fear the terror by night

Nor for the arrows that flieth by day

Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness

Nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.

A thousand, a thousand shall fall at thy side

Ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.

Refrain: I am the way, the truth and the life… Whosoever that comes shall never thirst again… Though a mother her suckling child may forget but I will, I will never forget you…

“I sought the Lord, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears (Psalm 34:4, John 14:27, 1 John 4:18).

THE PROMISE OF DELIVERANCE

- During one of the camp meetings I attended, one evening we were paired for village evangelism. My partner’s attire surprised me. Those days red was generally regarded as danger and was widely avoided in dressing and other utilities. Only clandestine or cult groups and people dress in all loud red colors those days. My evangelism partner wore red cap, red shirt, red trousers. From head to toe almost completely red. This drew attention from passers-by. He claimed experiencing questionable supernatural occurrences during our outreaches. Something strange happened in one of the services. He ran amok, naked, became violent and was chained to restrain him from harming anyone as they prayed for him. By end of the camp meeting I was worried as he was carried home completely mad. How can someone in a cult, not sure of salvation be seeking Holy Ghost baptism as we discovered later? Holy Spirit baptism is a promise for believers and is power for God’s service and not for selfish gains. God however is merciful because after many years I saw him sharing testimony of how God delivered him, saved him and now called him into ministry as a preacher.

- Deliverance from Addictions, habituation and dependence

What are you addicted to that have tired you to bondage — drugs, food, life style, smoking. There is deliverance in Christ.

Psalms 50:15

And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.

Deliver here (châlats) inter alia denotes to pull off; hence (intensively) to strip, (reflexively) to depart; by implication to deliver, equip (for fight); strengthen: — arm (self), (go, ready) armed (soldier), deliver, draw out, put off, take away.

Isaiah 58:6

Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?

Isaiah 61:1

The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;

- Deliverance from demonic harassment

The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them (Psalms 34:7)

- God has a hedge of protection, a defensive barrier around his own that the enemy dare not break through. It is only sin that can break it

For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy (Psalms 61:3)

-The lord is your shelter. A shelter (literally or figuratively), hope, (place of) refuge, and trust. A strong tower — strong denoting strength in various applications (force, security, majesty, praise): — mighty and powerful.

Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name (Psalms 91:14)

- And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour. Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, why could not we cast him out? And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, if ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.

- Deliverance from Depression and oppression

Depression is a mood or emotional state that is marked by feelings of low self-worth or guilt and a reduced ability to enjoy life. A person who is depressed usually experiences several of the following symptoms: feelings of sadness, hopelessness, or pessimism; lowered self-esteem and heightened self-depreciation;

Psalms 9:9–10

The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee. -

The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles. — Psalms 34:17- Psalms 107:13–16- Proverbs 12:25- Isaiah 41:10

- Deliverance for the captive (i.e. a spiritual prisoner)

Lawful captive

Partial captive

Total captive

Prey of the mighty

- A brother named Paul went and laid hands on a demon possessed and demons transferred through his hands into his body and became sick. As we prayed for him he became very violent that three of us could not hold him down. As we prayed for him, one hundred and forty-four demons came out of him. They claimed that he belonged to them and refuse to go. They were bluffing but in the name of Jesus they were cast out. (See my book “Strategic Spiritual Warfare, spiritual warfare series book one” for more)

But thus, saith the LORD, Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered: for I will contend with him that contendeth with thee, and I will save thy children. — Isaiah 49:25

And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers (Malachi 4:6)

- Deliverance from Fear

A beautiful young girl was brought for prayers because she went mental. After bathing she would go out naked. Sometimes demons would carry here out of bed. A revelation came that we should pray against the spirit of death during service and she became hysterical claiming she is the one to die. I told them that no one will die since God revealed it that we should pray. Fear is a killer. God only ask that we pray against death. Don’t let fear kill you. God promised to deliver us from all fears.

Fear is from same root word (‘êmâh) meaning fright; concretely an idol (as a bugbear — an imaginary goblin or specter used to excite fear, an object or source of dread, continuing source of irritation, problem).

Psalms 27:1

The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

- Fear is like a spirit. In fact, there is a spirit of fear that can be cast out before it does damage. Fear is the opposite of faith. The two cannot stay the same place. It is said that if you must fear anything, just fear your own fears.

The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.- Exodus 14:14.

Isaiah 43:2

When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.

(Deuteronomy 31:8- Psalms 23:4- Psalms 18:3- Isaiah 41:13- John 14:27)

- God’s Promise of Eternal Life

God promised everlasting life to everyone who believe

1 John 2:25, NKJV. “And this is the promise that He has promised us — eternal life.

That is (aiōnios) without beginning and end, that which always has been and always will be without beginning without end, never to cease. It is eternal, forever and ever.

- God’s Promise about Marriage, family, children and Companionship

She had visited many doctors, both medical and traditional doctors severally for solution to her problem of barrenness but no solution. On a visit to her relations she heard about the promise of God so she embraced Christ. This woman was prayed for. After some months I received the good news that both women, the visitor and the one visited were now pregnant. After many years of seeking for the fruit of the womb, a problem that had defied medical solutions they believed the promise of God and the God that never fails answered them. Believe God.

- The relationship among the family members is that of mutual benefit between husband, wife and children. Every member should be allowed their space — child, mother/wife or father/husband

Psalm 127:3–5(AMP.)

Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward.

As arrows are in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one’s youth.

Happy, blessed, and fortunate is the man whose quiver is filled with them! They will not be put to shame when they speak with their adversaries [in gatherings] at the [city’s] gate

- 1 Cor. 7:3–5

3. The husband should give to his wife her conjugal rights (goodwill, kindness, and what is due her as his wife), and likewise the wife to her husband.

4 For the wife does not have [exclusive] authority and control over her own body, but the husband [has his rights]; likewise, also the husband does not have [exclusive] authority and control over his body, but the wife [has her rights].

5 Do not refuse and deprive and defraud each other [of your due marital rights], except perhaps by mutual consent for a time, so that you may devote yourselves unhindered to prayer. But afterwards resume marital relations, lest Satan tempt you [to sin] through your lack of restraint of sexual desire

- God’s promise of salvation for our children.

Isaiah 49:25, NKJV.

“For I will contend with him who contends with you, and I will save Salvation is an all-embracing word. Amplified Bible rendered it thus:

Isa. 49:25

For thus says the Lord: Even the captives of the mighty will be taken away, and the prey of the terrible will be delivered; for I will contend with him who contends with you, and I will give safety to your children and ease them.

Salvation here yaw-shah’ denotes safety, to save, be saved, to be liberated, be delivered, to be saved (in battle), be victorious, to save from moral troubles. Claim this promise of the father for your children.

- Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee. — Exodus 20:12

- But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children’s children; — Psalms 103:17

- Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. — Proverbs 22:6

- The father of the righteous shall greatly rejoice: and he that begetteth a wise child shall have joy of him (Proverbs 23:24)

- For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour my spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring (Isaiah 44:3)

- And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.

- God’s Promise of Forgiveness of sins

Some people die because even when God forgives them they refuse to forgive themselves because they think their sin is so big or unforgiveable that God cannot forgive. So, they wallow in unbelieve and guilty conscience. Especially backslider and so they perish than accept forgiveness. Forgiving yourself too or others is part of a healing process.

1 John 1:9 says

“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

Eph.1:7 (AMP.)

In Him we have redemption (deliverance and salvation) through His blood, the remission (forgiveness) of our offenses (shortcomings and trespasses), in accordance with the riches and the generosity of His gracious favor.

- Forgiveness (aphesis) means release from bondage or imprisonment, pardon (letting them go as if they had never been committed), remission of the penalty. No matter how deep you have been involved or wide, widespread your sin, come in repentance. In fact, check my book Children s Salvation Alphabets (Children’s Salvation Series Bk 2) where every alphabet explained this process with living testimonies.

- God promised that our sins will be buried (Micah 7:19) “ He will again have compassion on us, and will subdue our iniquities. You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea.”

- If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land (2 Chronicles 7:14). God promised to forgive and heal our land too. National sins and curses, evil covenant and oaths, national disasters will be averted if his people seek his face in repentance.

Thou hast forgiven the iniquity of thy people, thou hast covered all their sin. Selah.

- God’s Promises Include the Holy Spirit both the gifts and fruit. Luke 11:13

The fruit is written in singular because though many but they are of the same Spirit.

Gal 5:22 says that the fruit of the Spirit is (singular) love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

Gal 5:23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

- The work of the Holy Spirit is to guide you into all truth.

John 16:13

Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

- We may need the word of God to grow in our faith but we need the voice of God to survive in life. The Spirit will show us the way, guide and lead us if we yield to his promptings. The little small voice that whispers in our hearts when we need directions. People don’t hear because they don’t listen. At every cross road of decision making consult the Holy Spirit in you. Inside you is you spirit and the Spirit of God. The Spirit (of God) bears witness with our own spirit (Romans 8:16)

- God’s Promise of Financial Prosperity/Daily Care

God promises us money, finances, prosperity and employment

- From joblessness to affluence. This brother had no job and no one to help. His relations rejected him because of his faith. Most morning he would visit a friend passing a particular road. Unknown to him the humble way he greets people attracted attentions. Then one day a stranger called him. “I like the way you greet and something in me say I should help you. What do you do?” the strange man asked.

Politely he said, “ nothing.”

“Can you make supplies?”

He replied, “I have no money.”

“Just go to such and such company and ask them to supply to this address,” the stranger told him. That was exactly what the brother did and became rich, very rich.

Psa 23:1

A Psalm of David. The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

- What is the difference between want and need? Maybe not much. You might want something but do not need it or is not of necessity to you at that point. For example, at age ten you want an airplane but do not need it at your age to survive. Need is of necessity, obligatory, a lack of something requisite, desirable, or useful, a condition requiring supply or relief, a physiological or psychological requirement for the well-being of an individual

Want (châsêr); to lack; by implication to fail, lessen, make lower, cause to fail or die: You shall not fail or die if you don’t have them

Psa 34:9

O fear the LORD, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him.

Psa 34:10

The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing.

- God promised to take care of our day-to-day needs.

Mat 6:30 says wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?

Mat 6:31 Therefore take no thought, saying, what shall we eat? or, what shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?

Mat 6:32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.

Mat 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Mat 6:34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

- As you study, meditate and believe God’s word your way will be prosperous and attain good success according to. Joshua 1:8. As you fulfill the conditions attached to each promise. Every promise has an “if” conditional requirement. For example, salvation is FREE but if you do not accept it, it will not be yours. God gave you his son. Jesus gave his life’

- God promises to supply all our needs

“And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19, NKJV. …No good thing will He withhold from those who walk along his paths (Psalm 84:11, TLB)

- God’s Promise of Financial blessings and Jobs

There are principles of financial multiplication in the scriptures. Obey the word of God in this area and see financial blessings. Financial insolvency results when we break such rules

Deuteronomy 28:12

The LORD shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow.

Proverbs 10:4

He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.

- Whatever you get through a crooked means will go vanish the same way

Wealth gotten by vanity shall be diminished: but he that gathereth by labour shall increase (Proverbs 13:11)

- Tithing and Offerings: this is one place asked us to challenge and prove him. In tithing and giving offerings.

Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it (Malachi 3:10)

- Seek the Kingdom first

Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you (Matthew 6:31–33)

- For those that Sponsor missionary work: The passage below which many of us claim was actually given to the Philippian church because they did what some other churches did not do. They sponsored Paul’s missionary work. What right have you if you do not support the work of God financially to claim it. I mean in demands and supply financially. Every promise has its demand on us. Read it out yourself.

Phil. 4:15–19 (NLT)

15 As you know, you Philippians were the only ones who gave me financial help when I brought you the Good News and then traveled on from Macedonia. No other church did this.

16 Even when I was in Thessalonica you sent help more than once.

17 I don’t say this because I want a gift from you. What I want is for you to receive a well-earned reward because of your kindness.

18 At the moment I have all I need — more than I need! I am generously supplied with the gifts you sent me with Epaphroditus. They are a sweet-smelling sacrifice that is acceptable to God and pleases him.

19 And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.
