Thanks Donald: While The World Plans And Progresses, We Are Gridlocked

I almost never write political posts, but as I read through all the headlines in Apple News on my iPhone today I was overcome with the sense that while the world is carrying on planning and making the best decisions for itself, over here in the United States we are completely gridlocked over the quandry that is the presidency of Donald Trump. It’s a sad day and a sad realization.
What a brilliant move by the Russian’s on their alleged interference with our election: paralyze your biggest competitor by assisting someone to be elected to their highest office who would literally gridlock the country with their ineptitude and drama bringing all agendas and goals to improve or continue moving the country forward to a halt, allowing Russia to simply put their head down and as they say in startup “get work done”.
And that is exactly what feels like just happened, going back to my experience this morning reading news headlines like I do every morning before I start my day.
China is building its first ‘Mars colony’ on earth for study purposes and while the world looks away from the daytime soap opera that is the US presidency, it looks to embrace the Chinese economy as a new frontier of growth and opportunity.
Russia sits back and most likely laughs to themselves as they watch the drama unfold here over a bowl of popcorn, meanwhile Putin signs Syria base deal, pretty much guaranteeing their presence there for the next 50 years.
The UK is working on becoming the phoenix in the wake of Brexit and its’ separation from the European Union.
North Korea continues on with developing its nuclear weapons program, making steady progress with its capabilities while openly threatening us and other countries in the process.
Every country at the G20 Summit agreed to the Paris Climate Accord acknowledging climate change IS real and threatens our planet… except Donald Trump representing the United States. SMH.
And what is the US doing under the direction of our Commander-in-Chief? Banning transgender individuals from the military under false pretenses. Subjecting the country to months of rediculousness from the White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer. Dubiously firing the FBI Director and then attack our own Attorney General because the president is butthurt (and likely scared) neither stuck around to defend Trump and his family in the mounting Russian scandal. Squabble over the reform and reconstruction of our national healthcare bill, currently a massive disaster. Our President continually beats a dead horse over his “massive wins” in states during the election and fires off attacks at Hilary Clinton months after the election is over, most recently during a public speech with the Boy Scouts. Golf trips. Conflict of interest. Tax cuts for all but the top few percent of the country. Big walls. Small hands. Oh and the tweets, the endless tweets.

Are we in some strange Matrix-like world or perhaps an acid-induced trip? Or is this actually reality?
Incidentally, don’t we as a country have much more pressing issues to deal with than all this circus nonsense and distraction? Just saying. Like, I don’t know, passing a well constructed national healthcare maybe? How about cabinet agenda promises Trump touted during the election? How about the role and reputation of the US in the global community? How about anything to do with real policy development and progress instead of giving the world a new sitcom/soap opera to watch online and in the media called ‘The Trump Administration’?
There is a dark, dark cloud over all government decision-making right now and it doesn’t take a genius to understand that as a civilization and a country, the United States of America is at its most vulnerable right now. Roman Empire anyone?
In many ways, from a fiduciary perspective, Donald Trump is abdicating his role as our President by completley gridlocking everything in the wake of this mess.
Our government makes me so proud to be an American. I really look forward to the future of the country I love so much. I don’t worry at all and clearly we are in good hands because… you are making America Great Again. Thanks Donald.
