Do you need math to become a programmer?

Just like you, I was very concerned at the beginning about the amount of math and computer science I might need to learn. And so far I can tell that you almost don’t need any! But why are we being told otherwise?

Daily you will use tools and technologies that might use some calculus or advanced algebra. But since you’ll never need to go under the hood of them, you might never see any of those low-level equations. Learning code is simple these days. But where do these rumors even come from today?

Despite all simplicity of coding, scripting will need math. But don’t worry, that counts only for data scientists. They deeply analyze large chunks of data to bring new solutions to important questions. Until you don’t want to become one, you hardly meet any problem that requires mathematical knowledge.

So you really shouldn’t be afraid of math. You probably won’t even come across any situation that requires math knowledge. And even if you will, that problem is probably already solved. So don’t be afraid and follow your dreams.
