Don’t Build Private Clouds
Subbu Allamaraju

Cool story. I even believe it.

Only there is one subtle point. Clouds are best when you need a little virtual machines or when you have insanely a lot of money.

If you need 50-100 powerful virtual machines, you can always rent three powerful servers and install on Vmware Essential.

And this is a great solution. With an honest performance. And complete control.

There’s a big difference with the clouds, where you’re really restricted on the cost, performance and opportunities and solving problems.

Where your admin will raise the fallen database for a half hour. Cloud is a stretch for a day of chatter with the first line of support.

One clap, two clap, three clap, forty?

By clapping more or less, you can signal to us which stories really stand out.
