The brightness level on your display screen can cost you your productivity.
As Employees and Interns at Moving Walls, we spend a lot of time in front of display screens doing productive work. As you work into Moving Walls’ office in Cyberjaya, Malaysia, you will first notice the amount of monitors positioned on every table. This is not only common at Moving Walls’ but in most corporate places of work around the world.
Lets talk about the main display screens you are most probably going to feast your eyes on while at work; Computer Displays. “Computers, their screens to be more specific, are made up of thousands of tiny pixels that are constantly moving. Our eyes in turn are not naturally able to set focus on these constantly moving pixels, and hence we try to focus on an area behind the actual screen. Therefore, in order to work on a computer, our eyes need to keep on fluctuating focus between their natural point of focus and the pixels on the screen. And this tires the eyes and causes a lot of wear and tear (https://lawrenceandmayo.wordpress.com) —Read more about this here”
Our eyes as humans are very sensitive to light and this can be a discomfort when the amount of light accessible to the eye is too much or too low. To counter the effect of bright light,it is natural instinct to squint our eyes or close our eyes entirely until the brightness from the source of light is reduced. Same tactic can be applied to computer displays, taking routine breaks can help adjust our eyes and not cause them to strain due to excessive exposure to artificial light (from monitors). Another counter measure to the exposure of light from monitors is to use specialized softwares such as f.lux that learns about your computers brightness level and helps adjust the display and contrast to best suit you. More about f.lux here.
With this solutions, I hope you take care of your eyes even while at work on a Display screen.
