#6 Body or Mind?

6. If you were able to live to the age of 90 and retain either the mind or body of a 30-year-old for the last 60 years of your life, which would you want?

Well one thought looking at this question is to reject the premise of the mind/body duality. The mind is part of the body after all is it not? But we could in keeping to the original intended spirit make a distinction between purely mental faculties versus the deterioration of joints and such.

That is incredibly hard to saw. Does losing my sight count in the body category? If I lose all of my senses I don’t see how I am going to stay of sound mind very long trapped in a cage of my own body. But if my ability to understand the inputs i’m getting are going then that is pretty scary as well.

Of course in this hypothetical world where I am guaranteed to live to 90 and stay of sound mind I guess I can choose that and just maintain my body through regular exercise and eating well. I’ve got decent genes. My mom’s cousin (My first cousin once removed? my second cousin? don’t remember the official terminology) is almost 110 and at least at 102 was still getting around on his own, going for walks and what not.
