Those who have a WordPress site and are considering starting an eCommerce site from their WordPress site need to consider the platform on which the technical information will be based. As WordPress is not primarily an eCommerce building platform but rather a blogging based website builder, those who wish to have an eCommerce site with the need to integrate their own shopping site. Determining whether to use Magento or WooCommerce (the two leaders in eCommerce site design for WordPress) will be your biggest and most important consideration. And while there are pros and cons to integrating each of these into your site, here are 4 reasons when using WooCommerce is a better choice over Magento.

1) If you have low funding choose WooCommerce

Magento is a very complex platform with various options and algorithms. Due to the complexity and the level of features, the cost is a bit higher than the WooCommerce option. WooCommerce allows you to review the product free for a time and decide after such whether or not using the tools is appropriate for your eCommerce site. Keep in mind that there are a bit less functions than Magento and so those who are migrating from Magento to WooCommerce may feel a bit limited. However, those who are seeking to have the minimal number of features and allocating the least amount of funds into their site but still securing ROIs may wish to use WooCommerce over Magento.

2) Unlimited Features and unique sites

Magento is a complex beast which can at times require you to have a specialist to perform certain actions and interactions between your website and the Magento site. This is one of the reasons why Magento freelancers are in such high demand. Yet, there are eCommerce sites, such as sole proprietary businesses, which do not wish to have a full time IT on hand to address Magento Technical issues. Those who wish to have ease of use from a simple plug-in for their WordPress site may find that the WooCommerce interface is a bit easier to navigate and maintain than the Magento Platform. While there will always be some technical knowledge needed for eCommerce integration into WordPress, WooCommerce is a better Choice over Magento for those of us who want to have unlimited features and unique sites. The technical knowledge required for WooCommerce can generally be found on YouTube or in various chats, whereas Magento requires either going through the site or hiring a freelancer for such.

3) All-in-one eCommerce Solution

Perhaps the biggest advantage of WooCommerce over that of Magento is the ability to have a complete eCommerce solution with little third-party integration. This means that you do not necessarily need to log into the third-party site to conduct business. Also, you do not have to build the SEO and the SERP information on the third party in order to have a successful eCommerce site. As the plug-in is an all-inclusive hosted platform site, you can run an eCommerce blog, have an eCommerce site, and easily integrate your site with WordPress without the need to have a complex hosted platform. While Magento integration to WordPress has become simpler, and while the Magento platform is hosted, it still remains more complex than the WooCommerce alternative.

4) Feature your products easily

The WooCommerce plug in allows for you to have 360-degree product rotations, coupons, customer discounts, shipment options, comments from social media, product bundles, point to product navigation and more. Because of this, it may be a better choice than Magento. As mentioned prior, the WooCommerce plug in is not really intended for businesses which have a substantial product or those which are planning to be at a high corporate level. While the features of WooCommerce are great for the small business, those who intend to offer multiple products and wish to have more technical features may wish to find another solution. However, if you are just a blogger or a small business who wants to feature your products without the need of having multiple sites, hiring someone to do the SEO on your products, or if you just do not wish to allocate funds to an eCommerce site when you can get the plug-in for free and then play a minimal fee for your eCommerce site, WooCommerce would be the choice for you.
