25th of April, Anzac Day, is one of the most important national days of Australia that marks the anniversary of the first big military action combated together by Australia and New Zealand during the WWI. ANZAC is short for Australia and New Zealand Army Corps.

There is a lot on the list to do on this day like getting the AFL ANZAC Day tickets, seeing the Dawn Service, and much more. Here is a quick review of how you can celebrate thins day in Melbourne.

Attend a Dawn Service

Attend the Dawn Service with your family. It’s a great way to let your children learn about national history. These Services are held at Military bases and war memorials in both countries. It is a reminder of how dawn landed in Gallipoli. There are slideshows, letter excerpts, readings of diary and emotive accounts, and two minutes of silence in mourning. A number of monuments and statues are opened on this day like the Hall of Memory and Tomb of the Unknown Australian Soldier.

Make Anzac Biscuits

Anzac biscuits are a national snack of this day because these biscuits were the major staple in the Anzac soldiers’ diet.

Play Two-Up

Benefit from one of the days in a year when your national sport is finally legal for a day and hit one of the many pubs in Melbourne as all of them will be hosting this favourite Anzac Day tradition. Change that paper currency into gold coins and place your bets to see those sacred coins fall. You will certainly find a highly spirited crowd and discounted beers or even free.

Watch AFL Anzac Day Match

Besides the grand finale, the ANZAC Day clash of Collingwood vs. Essendon is the hugest game of AFL. Don’t forget to grab your AFL ANZAC Day tickets as they are highly likely to run out. The first Anzac day match held back in 1995 and both teams ended up in a draw on 111. Go with your friends, family, and kids, as it is hard to find someone who doesn’t feel the true spirit of this days match.

If you don’t find the ticket, don’t worry, as there will be no pub in Melbourne that will not screen it live. Make sure to reserve a spot or get your friends there to save a place for you as pubs are massively full on this day. Enjoy free beers, if you get to get some, and the Anzac biscuits to celebrate this historic day.
