Freeshot v1.4 Update

It has been a very long time since I released an update for Freeshot — my Dribbble client for iOS. This update has some major improvements to the app in terms of performance and stability and some highly requested features. Here’s the rundown of what has changed:

Better Support for Animated GIFs

In the past, looking at a large animated GIF tended to result in a crash. To fix this, I started using FLAnimatedImage, a performant animated GIF engine for iOS, so you can now enjoy the internet’s favorite medium without any interruptions.

Better UX for Swiping Between Lists

Swiping between lists has always been supported, but the implementation wasn’t really that great. You can now scroll horizontally through the lists by swiping left or right.

Support for Liking Shots

A highly requested feature. Nothing says “I like your work” better than tapping on a heart glyph.

Support for Following Users

You can follow a user by visiting their profile page and tapping the “Follow” button. In the future you can expect to the see the option to follow a user outside of the profile page as well.

Pinch to Zoom

Tap a shot and pinch away!

Support for Attachments

Attachments are listed in a horizontal grid underneath a shot. Tap to get a closer look.

And Plenty More…

These are just some of the more obvious features I added in. There are some minor changes as well like tapping on a username in a comment now takes you to the user’s profile page within the app.

What’s Next?

The plan is to keep adding features on to the app with regular updates. Here’s a few things you can expect to see in the future:

  • Support for more lists (Teams, Playoffs, Animated etc…)
  • Changing the number of columns in the grid view
  • Posting comments
  • Buckets (creating, adding, removing…)
  • Activity Notifications (receive a notification when someone likes your shot or follows you)
  • Searching for users and shots

If there’s anything I missed, tweet your requests to @freeshotapp.

In the meantime, I hope you will try Freeshot and let me know what you think!

Note: If you are using the old version make sure that you update before 8th April 2015 (before the old API expires).
