Tagine Balham — a true Moroccan experience in the heart of London

In July I had a Saturday night to myself and my lovely friend Michelle (@crazycatladyldn) and we got treated to a a lovely dining experience in Tagine Balham. If you are into North African cuisine , keep reading, as the experience was nothing short of fantastic. On their website, Tagine Balham refer to ‘the art of sensual cuisine’. And sensual it was — the interior, the smell, the taste and the ambience were nothing short of a feast to the senses.

Love those bags

Tagine Balaham is located within 2 minutes from Tooting Bec Common. We drove there though and had a little wonder before going into the restaurant for dinner. As you already know, I am an avid West Londoner and it is hard to see me south of the river really. However, I fell in love with Blaham, so much spirit. I recommend if you are visiting Tagine, you dedicate some time to take a walk around it and explore the cute shops that surround it. Also, they have really strong tile game around there, if you are into photographing your shoes on tiles :)

Tagine Balaham has a lovely outdoors area where you can dine and observe passers by, as well as smoke shisha. The restaurant has an authentic vibe — from the interiors to the lovely staff who offer the well known Moroccan hospitality to diners.

One of our fabulous hosts

There are tables hidden away from prying eyes if you want to have an intimate dinner, surrounded by fluffy pillows and candles.

There was a couple on a date next to us and it looked like the most perfect place for that. We were treated to a feast of Moroccan goodies and it felt like a 7 course meal. We got given traditional hats to enjoy with our meal, which we really loved.

Of course we started off with a traditional tea

All the pottery and plates were authentic which added to the experience

Lat but not least — dessert. I was so full by that time that only had a bite but it was gorgeous

The table near by us had a birthday celebration and it was a lovely moment where the lights got dimmed, a beautiful cake got carried out of the kitchen and the staff sang and danced a traditional Moroccan song. I think it added this extra special feeling for the birthday party.

Cake anyone?

Thank you for the lovely hospitality Tagine Balham, we hope to see you again soon. If you are in the rea definitely give it a try.
