How to Not Care What People Think

We are social creatures, so it’s natural that we tend to give energy to other people’s thoughts and opinions; the challenge is in how it affects us. Too many people are afraid to live their lives and go after what they want because of what others may think of their decisions. It could be from friends, family, co-workers or even complete strangers. They let the opinions of others stop them from pursuing the life that makes them happy.

It’s really a matter of knowing yourself and what matters most to you without putting too much weight in other people who may not agree with your decision. You must do what is right for you. You’ve got to know first what you are passionate about because that’s what brings you the most joy, and second decide what your purpose is because that is what will serve others and bring you the most fulfilment.

If you want people to stop judging you, stop judging others. If you are spending your time, energy and efforts on what other people are doing you are bound to suffer because that is something you cannot control. Any hate you express is yours and yours alone, so if you chose to hold onto that negative charge, it will only hurt you. Come from a place of love for your own well being. Take the time to focus on your mission and ignore what others are doing with their lives. You are here for a reason; fulfil that.

Detach yourself from all opinions, this means the good and the bad. If you really don’t want to care about what other people think, you need to focus on what it is you think. If someone tells you their opinion and it is negative, then it is your decision to either accept or disregard that statement, and the same goes for the good. If someone has a positive comment, you need to detach yourself from that too. Not caring about what people think is not only about eliminating negative opinions, but it’s about eliminating all opinions and choosing to focus on what matters most to you.
