Although most people remember their flip flops and sunglasses, the vast majority of travelers forget that they’re also unintentionally packing a sea of wrinkles and creases. Fortunately for you, we at ImpulseFlyer have a few tricks up our sleeves in the wrinkle department.

1. Pack Smart

The first step to having wrinkle-free clothing is to pack right. For jeans, shorts, and most bottom items, it’s best to roll them up so that you won’t have any creases when you unpack. This works well for basic t-shirts as well.

For dress shirts, try to fold along the seams. Button them up first, fold the shirt sleeves in at the shoulder, and then fold the entire shirt in half lengthwise. Now that it’s folded in half, roll up the shirt!

2. Steam It

Take a long hot shower with the door and windows closed to create a steam room. Carefully (so your clothes don’t get wet), hang your shirts and pants near the shower head where there’s the most steam. If possible, turn the shower head away from the clothing. After 10-15 minutes, check on your clothes. The wrinkles should have vanished by then!

3. Blowdryer Method

Hang your clothing up on a hanger. Lightly brush water over the most wrinkled areas. Using a blow dryer, set the heat on medium to high and aim it at your shirt until the wrinkles are gone and the shirt is dry. Before you put it on, however, let it cool off so that it “sets”. Otherwise if you grab it while it’s still hot, you’ll end up re-wrinkling your shirt.

4. Pack A Wrinkle Releaser

We’re not really sure how this works but Downy Wrinkle Releaser is like magic. Just spray a little over the wrinkles and voila, they’re gone. Other brands also have their own wrinkle releasers such as Magic Mist. You can also find travel sized wrinkle releasers as well.

For harder creases, spray the items with the wrinkle releaser and then hang them up in your bathroom while you take a hot shower.

5. Kettle Steam It

Most hotels offer a kettle in their rooms. Put in a ton of water, turn it on, and once it’s done, hold your wrinkled clothing over the steam. Hang your shirt or pants up and let it dry out.

6. Flat Iron It

If you travel with a flat iron for your hair, you can use this to get rid of smaller wrinkles. Just be careful not to burn your clothing!

7. Be Proactive

The moment you land and check-in, ask the concierge if they offer and pressing services. If they offer it, hand off all your wrinkled items and let them worry about the creases and lines!
