What I Learned from Four Years Working at McDonalds

Thank you Kate, that was a wonderfully articulated perspective.

My younger brother has worked at McDonalds’ as a crew trainer for almost a decade, a decade in which he also graduated with a computer science degree. I was never embarassed about what he did, but knew others would judge him harshly… and that his self-esteem and confidence wouldn’t be resilient enough for it.

I’ve often wondered why he didn’t want to push himself further, even within McDs. Your words have helped me understand him a little better and also find empathy for many others like him.
