Einhorn — a true Unicorn among companies
Brief
Pick a product or a service you are passionate about and convert it into a responsive web presentation experience. Your task is to tell a story and convince the visitor of the value of the product/service. There needs to be 1 main CTA on the page to convert users.
Why Einhorn?
I’ve been using Einhorn products for a while now, and I’m in love with their packaging design from the start, that’s what drove me to their products in the first place. They definitely stand out on the market's shelves, but what I didn’t know about Einhorn is that they also stand out as a “do good” company.
They are very invested in fairstainability (which is a combination of the words fair+sustainability), they give back to the community producing their products, and are very transparent and real about their goals, what they have achieved till now and where they want to go. Simply said “no bullshit” company. The way they advertise and the messages they promote are doing an amazing job of shifting the narrative around condoms and period products.
Einhorn is actively committed to economic change, transparency, and social justice. Therefore, the company was transformed into a Purpose Company in 2019 and has been responsibly owned ever since.
Since then, Einhorn is not for sale, paying out profits or bonuses is impossible and all employees jointly determine the future of the company. In this way, Einhorn itself is taking an essential step towards living and shaping the economy in a new way.
They invest 50% of their profits (yes, you read it right 50%!) in charitable projects, such as fairstainable standards in rubber farming or human rights projects in Tanzania.
Make Magic Happen
Einhorn is surely a unicorn among companies, their products, packaging, and company philosophy are truly fabulous. But if you don’t read the long text on their website you might miss a lot of their fabulousness.
I took the task of telling their story through a landing page, in a style that is very similar to their visual identity, with a lot of illustrated animations helping the story to be heard, concise and fun.
Illustrations
I did all the illustrations in Procreate on the iPad, but since Figma is not good friends with PNGs -it starts protesting if there are too many, and slows down the computer to the point where proceeding with the work is a no-go anymore- I had to vectorize all the illustrations which made me and Figma both very content although this process swallowed a lot of the time.
Expensive animations
I used a lot of animations that I’m very aware would come with a high cost of developing. Since the project was just hypothetical and had no limits on the budget I went for it without the fear of what was realistic or not, and let me tell you, I had fun, unicorn style.
Findings
I struggled at the beginning with what the landing page’s true purpose is, do we want the users to go through the story? Or do we want them to immediately go to the products? The answer is easy, it’s up to the user, and you have to give the user the chance of an easy exit at any point, you don’t make them scroll till the end for a CTA that leads them where they want to go.
