Why You Should Do Things From The Heart (Part 2/2)

The only way to love what you do
This is Part 2 of this post. Read Part 1 here for some context about this post if you haven’t read it already. Don’t worry, we’ll wait for you..
To be happier in life, we need to do meaningful work.
We need to do work that ignites our passion, work that excites us, work that we actually give a shit about.
I’m happiest when I know the work I’ve done is impacting someone in a positive way. That’s what allows me to be the best version of my self.
I can only live with my self when I know I’ve tried.
I can only love what I do if I put in my 100%.
I can only be me and stop trying to be anyone else if I do things from the heart.
Bring Out The Best In You
I remember when I was back in Uni, the take home assignments I had to do were so boring and lacked any form of creativity. I’m sure some of you know what I’m talking about it. I never really cared about them, and as a result I received multiple passes (50<65), some credits (65<75), a few distinctions (75<85) and to the best of my knowledge one high distinction (85<100).
You can tell that I didn’t put much effort into these assignments. They were all pretty much plagiarised the night before. I still remember having to use McDonalds free wifi to submit an assignment on my way home, for a subject that I was nearly about to fail.
Now that I’ve graduated, I’m designing the life that I want.
I’m doing work that I actually want to do.
At Deputy, I’m helping grow our Customer Experience team while maintaining the excellent level of customer service that our team is known for. Each day I’m helping our customers get the best out of Deputy and mentoring our team on how to best serve our customers. Come say HI!
In my personal life, I occasionally publish blog posts on Medium and engage with like-minded, inspiring people over social media (hi friends!). I don’t care about the follower numbers, likes, recommends etc. (okay I do a little), I care about helping just one person. That’s the first step to making this world a better place.
Additionally, I’m learning about writing, entrepreneurship, content marketing and how to build a personal brand — thank you Internet!
As a side project, I’m helping one of my best friends promote his healthy meal delivery service business, My Muscle Chef, through content and social media.
I love everything that I’m currently doing. I’m contributing to each part of my life by doing my best work, because these are the things I care about. I’m passionate about delivering a great customer experience, I’m excited to build my personal brand by providing value to people and I’m engaged by being involved in promoting a business across social channels.
I can only do my best work by doing things from my heart.
Find work that you love, and you’ll never have to work a day in your life
Better Relationships
Being authentic and doing things from your heart speaks volumes in the creative/professional world. People appreciate your perspective. They don’t want revised, regurgitated, copied work — they want your work.
People begin to trust you when you’ve put your 100% in. They respect your effort and support you along the way.
People are attracted to passion.
Think about all passionate people you admire — they are genuine, authentic and they do things from their heart, so you can enjoy their work. Singers, authors, bloggers, entrepreneurs — you name it.
When you do work that you’re proud of, you begin to attract the right people into your life. Inspired people want to get behind you. These are the people you want to keep in your life.
These are the people in which you should invest your time in and strengthen your relationship with.
Be your real self, because that’s what people love you for.
Live With Yourself
I think being authentic is essential because you’re the one who’s got to live with yourself, and if you aren’t being true to what you want to say and do, it’s going to eat you alive — Jon Westenberg in Make people give a shit
It’s all about the intention. If you committed to something and it failed, but you put your heart into it, the result doesn’t matter — the intention was there. You’ll learn from it and do better next time.
When you do things from your heart, you’ll be happy knowing you were honest with yourself.
You’ll be stress-free and have nothing to worry about because you did what you believed you had to do.
I live with my self knowing that every word I’ve published is my own.
I live with my self because I’ve given it my best shot.
I live with my self knowing that I’m not perfect, I’m a work in progress.
Whatever you do, do it from your heart. That’s the way to love what you do
Ultimately, I have to do things from the heart for myself. I need to be okay with it. The only way to be okay with what I’m doing is by putting my heart into my actions. My half-hearted actions get me nowhere.Your half-hearted actions get you nowhere.
