Old Justcoin client here :-)

Great read! This is the Storj I know and I am not surprised by your conclusion. Its good that you also point out that Storj is one of those ICOs where lots of money has led to negligible practical results. We will see a lot more of this as time pass with a whole bunch of recent ICO tokens. Point in case: Filecoin is now touted as the next “dropbox killer” with a $250+ million ICO. Friends+family got a first-mover advantage of course, and the “Foundation” remains with 2x of all ICO-purchased tokens. Guess where this is going… At least Filecoin took note of the SECs decision regarding the DAO and sold their “tokens” only to accredited investors (i.e. rich people that can afford to get screwed over), so its not all wasted.

As others mention, if you’re serious about blockchain based decentralized storage (REAL decentralized) you definitely should try out Sia. Its a mature project which is “almost there” (meaning convenient features such as file sharing and streaming is still lacking). I think you will find it very easy (and reliable) to use.

Thanks for an enjoyable read!
