The Day I left for My College
In my 19 years of a big short life, I always wanted to get into a college that is situated in a different city. I wanted to stay away from my hometown, but couldn’t figure out the reason why. Whenever someone asks me about this, I tell them that I wanted to be independent and to realize the value of care and love that my parents gave me.
I managed to grab a seat at B.tech CSE in I.K.Gujral Punjab Technical University, Kapurthala. It was around 42 hours train journey from my Hometown Durgapur to Jalandhar city. Traveled from One ear to another ear of my motherland India with my parents. We arrived in Jalandhar station at around 10'o clock and then We headed to the hotel, The Downtown, which took us around 5 mins of E-Rickshaw ride, jam-packed with our luggage.
We freshen up in a few minutes and had Nutri-Kulcha at nearby Dhaba and took away a couple of pizzas from Domino’s, which I later had in my lunch in the hostel. Then we took a cab to my new home a.k.a Boys Hostel-I of I.K.Gujral Punjab Technical University with my bedding and pillow.
When we arrived at the hostel, We got to know apart from me, only two other students arrived at the hostel. My Mum waited in the guest room where the other two parents were waiting and I with my father went to the in-campus bank to get my fees related work done.
And When We went back, Mum introduced me to the other two students, Ashish and Shivam. Never thought we would become best of best buddies in upcoming days. Let me introduce them, first Ashish, Terrific Dancer, the Artist and of course good looking and we have a Shivam, funniest one with a nice sense of humor, innocent, and with a very clean heart. In a few days, we were like friends for life, shared every secret, we became each other’s support system away from home, clicked each other's photo every time, hanging out together and many more (really miss those days).
When I went to see-off my parents near the university gate, I wasn’t feeling sad, or alone or having teary eyes, but was excited to start a new chapter of my life.
Till then, Bubye!
P.S — Note to Ashish and Shivam — Jab bhi milna, Gale laga lena ek baar.
