The Bobby Brown Story Part 1

Last night we gathered around the TV as a family to watch the eyebrow raising life story of Bobby Brown. For the better part of three hours the story unfolded in the only way it could being associated with Bobby Brown: complete and utter chaos. Starting from him witnessing his friend being stabbed at a young age you could see parts of his life that shaped the man we all know today.

My main issue with last nights episode was that it felt almost like the wax poetic version of his life story. For example in the New Edition story BET did last year you could see the progression of how Bobby was falling off the rails. Drug use, ego and just all around asshole traits lead to him being kicked out of New Edition at least twice. But in the his solo story the only mention of drugs that you see is him selling drugs to earn money after being kicked out of NE. Now most of us know drugs played a MAJOR part in Bobby Brown’s life; but the next mention of hard drug use was when he met Whitney Houston.

Insert side eye here

I know he wrote a book discussing all the things shown in the movie but this seems a tad bit outlandish. You mean to tell me he just stopped doing coke until he met Whitney? I find that incredibly hard to believe. Not saying that we didn’t know our legend had a drug problem, but let’s not make it seem like he didn’t have a problem until he met her. Again this isn’t to say that we didn’t know the stories of them two disappearing for weeks on end to get high. This is all true.

Next thing that stood out to me was all the damn sex! Bobby Brown had to be the horniest man in the 80’s and early 90’s. The only thing he could successfully pull out of was the New Edition tour; other than that his pull out game was trash. Which given the time that his success was on the rise was also during the AIDS and HIV crisis of the 80’s. Can you imagine how much he was seriously playing with his life and the lives of all the women he slept with during that time. That’s chilling to even think about. Then again when I think about all the pelvic thrusting happening during his videos and concerts all the sex makes sense.

The other shocker that launched my wig into orbit was the news that Bobby Brown was dating Janet Jackson. Yes THE Janet Damita Jo Jackson. You see young Bobby buying his first house in Atlanta as well as buying Miss Jackson if you’re nasty (which come on Bobby Brown most certainly was) a nice luxury car. Apparently in Brown’s book “Every Little Step I Take” he went further in depth about their relationship. Leaving out the juicy tidbit that he kicked Janet out of his hotel room naked because she didn’t want to date him. My take away from their entire relationship is he was a side dude trying to be upgraded. Rumors also say this is the time Janet was married to El Debarge, which I think might be true since Bobby brought it up during this episode. All I know is after this episode aired I know Janet called him up to give him the whispering of his life.

I seriously considered reading this book until I remembered during his press junket for said book he casually mentioned a ghost had sex with him.

Real Life Ghost Buster or Nah?

I’m good luv, enjoy.

The crazy part of this whole series is the first half was already bananas and we haven’t even gotten into the second half of his life when shit really hit the fan. I’ll be tuned in tonight with my sequins parachute pants on body rolling myself into glory. And before you judge me remember it’s my prerogative.
