Thanks for this. My wife suffers from what she says is “everyday sexism” all the time. Nothing as bad as what you’ve described but it highlights how much is at a deep cultural level. In many instances nothing malicious is meant by it and some men would be horrified that they’ve unwittingly upset someone. Although revolution rather than evolution would be nice (and I would dearly love it to change over night) it’s the drip, drip, drip of steady progress that has the long term and true effect. Pieces like yours will hopefully help bring about change by raising awareness and building empathy.
