OVERVIEW ;

Fiat Punto Pure was launched at the 13th edition of the biennial even-Auto Expo in February 2016. Pitted against entry level models including Maruti Suzuki Celerio and Hyundai i10 in the B segment, the new Punto Pure is available in four variants- Active, Dynamic, Emotion and Sport. Engine line-up comprises two petrol and one diesel unit that are paired to the conventional five-speed manual gearbox.

The entry level B segment hatchback derives power from two petrol and one diesel unit. The petrol variants get a choice between 1.2 litre and 1.4 litre engines, putting out 67bhp and 88.7bhp of power respectively. Diesel powered Punto Pure plonks the 1.3 litre Multijet oil burner, tuned to deliver power in two states of tune-75bhp and 91.7bhp. All the engines use the conventional five-speed manual gearbox to transmit power. Vital provisions on the hatchback include height adjuster for driver, rear AC Vents, airbags, ABS, auto climate control and chrome door handles among others. EXTERIOR AND LOOK ;

The Punto Pure has a well-rounded appearance with not many cuts and creases over the body shell. Upfront, the grille is chrome-free unlike many new cars. The sloping bonnet, chunky headlamps and the protruding nose add the much needed character to the fascia. To further accentuate the look, our test car had these good looking alloy wheels which are optional. The Punto Pure, however, only comes with steel rims as standard to bring down costs. Again, the OVRMs and door handles are not body coloured, but the Punto Pure doesn’t really look too bad without it. The rear section is attractive with high placed tail lamps. Especially, the ‘Pure’ badging on the tail gate and registration plate neatly tucked into the bumper has kept the look minimalistic.

INTERIOR AND COMFORT ;

The inside cabin is plain but still manages to bring a fair ambiance when you drive. The new release doesn’t carry any design modifications from its predecessor, but still it manages to offer convenience and comforts. Even with no exotic looks this new edition manages to exude a sense of plushness with its dual tone fabric seats and decently equipped interiors. With an adequate leg room, the new Punto pure offers the commuters a greater comfort.Dashboard in the car is impeccably aligned with the Hi-tech system. The central console comes with Air condition controls and other control switches. Now the temperature in your car can be set to your requirement. The steering wheel looks simple and plain with a 3 spoke design. The steering doesn’t come with any additional controls. The black fabric seats with white inserts attracts the eye. The seats are not too rigid but fairly cushion. The rear cabin has non-split folding bench seat that helps to release extra boot volume. On a whole the new Punto Pure is satisfying with the entertainment aspect and is quite positive with the seating and comfort.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION ;

According to Fiat Punto Pure review by experts this car is available in both petrol and diesel variants. The petrol variant of this hatchback is equipped with a1.2-litre FIRE petrol engine. Fuel supply for the motor is done through the MPFI System. The motor has a displacement of 1198 cc. It produces a maximum power of 67bhp at 6000 rpm and peak level torque of 96 Nm at 2500 rpm. This power mill is mated with 5-speed manual transmission gearbox. The diesel variant on the other hand is powered by a 1.3-litre Advanced Multi-jet diesel power plant with a displacement capacity of 1248cc. This oil burner is fed through CRDi technology. It produces a maximum power of 75bhp at the rate of 4000rpm and a maximum torque of 197Nm at the rate of 1750rpm. Like the petrol model, the diesel variant is also mated with a 5-speed manual transmission system.The diesel variant of the Fiat Punto Pure model gives an average mileage of 21.2kmpl. The petrol engine variant on the other hand gives an average mileage of 15.8kmpl.

DRIVING DYNAMICS ;

The Fiat Punto Pure rides and handles pretty decently though sharp potholes and bumps do make their presence felt. The Punto Pure can be cornered well though there is some amount of body roll. The car has a light and responsive steering and handles well in city conditions.

SAFETY ;

The new Fiat Punto Pure compromises in terms of safety, which is unfortunate. It is currently available only in one trim level that has a few essential protective features. It has door open indicator, Fire prevention system and Engine immobilizer with rolling code that maximizes the safety quotient. In addition to these, the car also have fire prevention system, follow-me home headlights, driver seatbelt warning, double crank prevention system and rear seat metal back. The major concern with the new Fiat Punto Pure is the lack of Airbags which now is common is most vehicles at the same price tag.

CONCLUSSION ;

Now comes the interesting part why should I be buying the Punto Pure while the facelift and more good looking and feature packed Punto Evo is already available for sale. There certainly can be many reasons to love this car but because this car is simple, basic and is definitely known for its superb handling and ride quality. Well If you are a hardcore Fiat lover and loves classic styling and basic interiors then gentleman this is right car for you which will suit your taste and style.But it will be interesting to find out that the availability of the pre-facelift Punto which was actually popular amongst the crowd for its impressive builds quality and handling will affect the sale of facelift Punto Evo or not.
