Congress issues whip to all its 42 legislatures

“Internal feud within the congress party never refuses to die down and in fact it is getting deeper day by day. While resentment against the party high command is apparent in state unit of Punjab, regular absenteeism has forced high command to take stern step.”

Factionalism has been severely affecting the functioning of Punjab unit of Congress Party.

While earlier, Captain Amarinder had waged a war against high command for the ouster of former state President Pratap Singh Bajwa, now voice of dissent against newly appointed Leaders of opposition, Charanjit Singh is rising at alarming rate.

Whip to Congress MLAs

Whether there is accusation of Channi taking undue credit or not taking senior party member into confidence, there is rising voice of dissent against him. The dissent has risen to a level that the party MLAs have intentionally started giving assembly session a miss. At any given point of time, not more than 10 legislatures are present.

After embarrassing itself in the Punjab assembly’s budget session in the beginning, the Congress party issued all its 42 legislators a whip to be in the House on the concluding session when the debate was to be concluded on the budget, so that legislative business could be taken up.

Channi gets cornered

As the Congress MLAs have been giving the speeches of leader of opposition Charanjit Singh Channi a miss, the message of party’s chief whip Navtej Cheema was loud and clear. Senior MLAs have been directed to be present at the assembly session.

It must be noted that Channi is finding no support when he fumbles, which he did many times when he took on the government during his speech on the motion of thanks on the governor’s address and during the budget debate.
