Community & Outreach Proposals:
The best part of the Ocean DAO category proposals are that not every proposal has to be technical in nature. Given the innate nature of technicality involved in a lot of Blockchain protocols like Ocean, there is a larger responsibility for having a wider outreach and awareness on propagating the value of Ocean to a lot of people who find greater utility in using Ocean Protocol that boasts of a variety of use-cases.
The proposals aimed at community outreach enjoy their own earmarks without having to compete with other projects that are technical in nature.
Project Submission Criteria:
Agnostic to the project category, as per the latest ROI updates every project proposal revolves around 4 key data-points to have a valuable proposal aimed at the Ocean DAO viz.
- Value add
- Aligned with Ocean mission
- Meet a minimum proposal requirement
- One Project/Proposal
Further to the above data points, further criteria that are essential to making a very good proposal are mentioned in the following link
Value add to the Ecosystem:
Value add to the Ocean ecosystem is the revamped and updated ROI metrics in the Ocean DAO ecosystem, proving to be a much lighter and qualitative way to assess projects. The 4-pronged approach has been a proved and tested method for the wider community to have a better understanding of project proposals.
Value add to the community:
- Usage of Ocean:
As a community outreach leader, it is imperative to have a proposal that is aimed at the quality that is required of strong community leadership that you would bring towards Ocean DAO. The community vision should aim towards activities that drive the utility of Ocean that’s extolled by it’s various use-cases as well as the role of Ocean DAO proposals, encouraging more people to lead proposals within the Ocean DAO. - Viability:
Ensure that you start slower and allow yourself the time to de-risk from setting out unrealistic goals at the start. Also soak in the feedback from the previous proposals that have come through and find a suitable approach that is relevant to your ecosystem. - Community Activeness:
Most importantly, the best way to have sustenance for the community project is to be active in the community of Ocean Protocol socials & have active feedback from the experienced campaigners in the space. Occasionally spend time understanding the technical developments related to Ocean protocol as this adds to the larger voice behind the utility of Ocean. - Adding value to the community:
Above all, ensure that there is strong value to the wider community either as a standalone Outreach leader/ An Ocean Ambassador following the relevant ethics. If you are a funded project, and also seeking to contribute to the Ambassador program, seek clarity from the Ambassador working group channels expressing interest to also add value to their core ocean missions and related Activity farming that might be suitable for the community outreach program that you intend to lead.
Other value adds and suggestions:
- Squads:
Team work is the best way to tackle community based objectives and this is something that contributes to effective scaling of the program.
2. Realistic proposals:
This is one of the most important aspects that is in line with the viability of your proposal. While it is noted that there is no time horizon to achieve your goals, you should also set realistic goals and aim at one good step during your mission as a community outreach leader.
3. Being honest and candid:
Being transparent and accountable is a desirable quality for any community leader. Having honest exchanges in the working groups enable great feedback from the community members that help you to dodge avoidable problems. Stay noted within the community to give active feedback and updates regarding your project, especially at the mark of 3 months after successful launch of your community project.
4. What to do when your proposal doesn’t go through?
Keep working on the feedback received from various working groups and ensure that you are still able to start realistic progress that will help instill more confidence and votes that is required for your project to succeed in the upcoming rounds.
