Gypsy & The Cat announce new album ‘Virtual Islands’

Gypsy & The Cat are Aussie synth pop duo Xavier Bacash and Lionel Towers. They broke onto the scene in 2010 with their debut LP Gilgamesh, which sold upwards of 250 000 units across the globe, and followed this up with The Late Blue and their most recent EP, Hearts A Gun.

The success of their debut has seen them festivals like Summersonic (Japan), Big Day Out, and Splendour in the Grass.Gypsy & The Cat have also headlined tours across Australia, France, Germany, UK, and many other countrys.

I Just Wanne Be Somebody Else is the first official single from their upcoming third record Virtual Islands which is due on August 5th on their own label Alsatian Music.

Mixed by Dave Fridmann (Tame Impala, MGMT, Neon Indian), I Just Wanne Be Somebody Else is a shimmering synth pop tune about escapism. “Change my brain and take my heart out. Guess you’re doing fine without it” the falsetto croons — we’ve all been there. And still, I Just Wanne Be Somebody Else is really happy and upbeat on the surface. Listen below.
