Alison Wonderland is an Australian electronic dance musician who produces and sings her own music. Run was her debut album in 2015 which was quite successful. Alison’s sophomore album, Awake, was released on April 6th, 2018.

First time listener here for Alison Wonderland. I honestly chose to listen to this album because of the photography. Alison seems like my kind of girl. A little messed up but embracing her shadows and laughing at life. Upon listening my first impressions were low. She has multiple songs where she teams up with Buddy, Chief Keef, and SLUMBERJACK. Only one of the three songs where decent. Alison has a beautiful voice and amazing knack for creating music. I wish she would participate with these duos instead of being in the sidelines. When teaming up, she seems to be at her lowest power allowing others to take over. Otherwords, the guest rappers damaged how I perceived the album, Awake. What a shame. But I didn’t give up because this girl is amazing. From vocals to the beats, there is a song for everything. A song for when you feel low, or need a jam to get your through work/school, or when you are driving. Which is ultimately the point of music, to get you through life.

Awake influences range from pop, dance, and hip-hop. Alison has had some personal hiccups in life from feeling depressed to having an awakening. The experience goes directly into the music and one can hear the healing in her life. Nobodies perfect and everyone needs to find their happy place.
