Indira Priyadarshini Gandhi (The Iron Lady) (born November 19, 1917–31 October 1984) was the Prime Minister of the India for about three consecutive terms from 1966 to 1977 and for a 4th time from 1980 until her assassination in 1984. Indira Gandhi was assassinated by two of her bodyguards on October 31, 1984. Born on in an illustrious family, she was perhaps most likely going for an illustrious political career. Smt. Indira gandhi attended the University of Oxford in Britain, where she studied history, political science and economics. As the Prime Minister of India, Smt. Indira Gandhi was known for her political ruthlessness and exceptional centralization of power.
