New collaboration alert! A new product line has just dropped not even 24 hours ago with the release of new leather goods from the masterminds behind Fendi, Pokemon, and Fragment. (Hypebeast).

The fashion house of Fendi will be utilizing its heritage in leather and bag craftsmanship to design the handbags alongside street fashion icon Fragment, incorporating the internationally acclaimed designs of Dragonair, Dragonite, and Dratini in recognition of the upcoming Lunar New Year of the Dragon. This collaboration appears strategically aligned with a recent study from Bain & Co, a Global Management Consulting Firm, predicting that:

Chinese consumers are set to become the most important demographic segment in the global personal luxury goods market, making up 35 to 40 percent of the total market by 2030.

By creating fresh new products that speak to a specific audience using cultural nuance, Fendi is successfully positioning itself to capture the up-and-coming most important demographic with purchasing power. Additionally, this allows Fendi to both increase revenue and brand authority by revitalizing their products to be connected to a strong childhood character that was most likely present in the childhoods of many consumers now adults today. Simultaneously, Pokémon has maintained strong brand guidelines for this collaboration, presenting the characters in their exact representation without being convoluted.

I’m personally excited to see which celebrities and members in the public eye will be drawn to these items, and to see if they’ll be a hit in the resale market!
