What if we redesign the Gilmore house? If you are someone like me who always takes inspiration from movies and TV shows you will love this.

Whether you’ve spent countless nights binge-watching “Gilmore Girls” or are just now diving into the series, there’s no denying the Gilmore family’s flair for home decor. According to Scene Therapy, the mother-daughter duo Lorelai and Rory create a cozy and comfortable atmosphere in their two-story home, filled with plush furniture ideal for lazy weekend nights and unique, quirky pieces that add character. In contrast, Emily and Richard (Lorelai’s parents and Rory’s grandparents) maintain a more traditional, upscale aesthetic in their home. The styles may be vastly different, but both are worth incorporating into your own home.

So, let’s take inspiration from the charming world of “Gilmore Girls” and redesign a space that reflects Lorelai and Rory’s distinctive taste.

Lorelai’s Kitchen!

The only thing she’ll enjoy making in the kitchen is coffee, and occasionally heating up a frozen pizza. Given her love for ordering takeout, that’s unlikely to change. With her personal habits in mind, we’ll design a simple, minimalist kitchen featuring an upgraded coffee machine and an assortment of cute mugs.

It’s no surprise that Rory, the bookworm, loves having her own space. In this beautiful home, she needs a dedicated area where she can sit, read, and envision her bright future as a powerful writer and single mother. This space should be cozy, colourful, and comfortable, providing a sanctuary for Rory as she transitions from writer to mother.

At the heart of the series, Lorelai’s Stars Hollow home prioritizes comfort and coziness above all else. This is the house where Rory grows up, where Lane and her band practice for years, where Lorelai briefly lives with Luke, and so much more. It’s the perfect place to start for home decor inspiration — it’s the epitome of “Gilmore Girls.”

If you really want to channel Lorelai, you might not spend much time in the kitchen, but you can still take style cues from the colourful room with cozy seating and comfortable furniture throughout.

If “Gilmore Girls” had continued, we all know Rory would become a published writer with rave reviews, kick-starting her literary career. This would undoubtedly include a special space for her to work on upcoming projects. She would likely borrow books and gain a valuable study desk from her grandfather, Richard Gilmore, while keeping the space simple and elegant.

Lorelai’s Safe Space

We all remember the episode where Lorelai gets really upset when Luke tries to make changes to her home and breaks the wall of her bedroom. In the final episode of “Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life,” we see Lorelai finally marry Luke and have him move in.

This means she’ll need a dedicated space for herself and her pet dog, Paul Anka, where they can relax together. This area can be her sanctuary, perfect for finishing books she started but never completed, providing a safe retreat away from everyone and everything.

This can also be the perfect window where she sits and enjoys the first snowfall every year.
