Lake Thun is located in the Bernese Oberland region and extending from Thun to Interlaken towns as you can see on the map below. The Alps in Bern are among the most visited places in Switzerland, and lake Thun should not be missed. Going to the surrounding castles of Hilterfingen and Thun, practising water sports like sailing or just marvel at the views of the mountains make the visit worthwhile.

Hilterfingen

A cute village with magnificent views of the lake where people sail or swim in Summer. Here is where we spent the day:

Schadau Castle and Park

Such a well-conserved castle! Here I totally lost track of time going through every room. And there was even a pianist setting the living room with classic music.

Sailing in Hilterfingen

After walking around Hilterfingen I joined a sailboat class for a trip around the lake and introduction to the sport, the teacher was great and told us the names of the Bernese Alps we see in the picture: The Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau.

Views to Interlaken peaks

Thun

A town in the shore of Lake Thun, in Switzerland’s Bernese Oberland region with charming typically Swiss houses, Romanesque churches and medieval castles. Great street atmosphere.
