A whimsical take on Laura Shortridge, our new blue haired cultural authoritarian
After watching Randi Harper be officially thrown out of the FreeBSD community for embarrassing the hell out of them with a username that falsely associated their image with harassment, bullying, and being a pious hypocrite of the highest caliber, I thought surely our esteemed SJW opponents wouldn’t be rash enough to rally around another party with a love for blue hair dye and a love of trying to incite people with inane BS.
In that, I was mistaken.
Like most under the SJW banner, she ticks off all the boxes: (Radical) Feminist, opposer of GamerGate, bleeding heart liberal (by her own admission, but I started out as one at one point, who am I to judge?), and like every other logically crippled party under those categories, GamerGaters are simultaneously a small band of laughable dudebro MRA thugs who impotently lash out at women and minorities and also the greatest threat to those groups at the same time.
Yes, you guessed it, like the typical SJW, she uses both the mocking argument and the fearmongering argument, often simultaneously, blind to the contradiction (no surprise, people like Ms. Shortridge tend to be poor at critical thinking, and I say that as someone who went through my own ranting bleeding heart liberal phase where I even briefly bought into the SJW dogma straight white males are the devil, though unlike Ms. Shortridge, I thought about the self hatred and silliness of the concept for a few minutes not long after and soon took to mocking the hell out of its stupidity instead), but unlike Ms. Shortridge, I believe calm reason and rational arguments are infinitely preferable to misguided rage and poorly thought out emotional rants.
She’s obviously entitled to her opinions, and I have nothing against her as a woman. In fact, if she were male, I’d still consider her opinion worth about as much as the content of my last bowel movement, but when you consider human feces can be used as fertilizer if you are desperate enough, I guess that would be an insult to the content of the bowel movement.
But I digress.
It also bears mentioning Ms. Shortridge is an admitted member of Something Awful, an ailing, dying comedy forum that gave birth to many of the most regrettable and disturbing elements of the social justice warrior movement, and before I get accused of baseless accusations, here’s why I say Ms. Shortridge really should not be bragging about being an SA alumni:
One, it’s has been a haven for a LOT of high profile pedophiles, including Nicholas (now Sarah) Nyberg, Aaron Patrick Nadler (Aatrek, a former moderator who sexually molested a child), Zeitguiest (another bleeding heart liberal who turned out to be a massive hypocrite who lived like Midas and seeded child porn torrents on an SA offshoot site after they got rid of their file sharing forums), amongst many other sick bastards I wouldn’t trust around my nieces.
It also has the infamous Helldump subforum, which was basically the internal name and shame forum for mocking their own members, and many hypocrites and bullies of SJWism would love to make people forget many of them were proud members of this little club, where they learned many of their current day harassment and abuse tactics and refined them for their current day McCarthyist witchhunts.
Throw in the fact several high profile murderers (including one whose downloadable PDF of the confession of their crimes is incredibly sickening), many people who have advocated political violence (such as several posters who got SA’s head cheese Lowtax visited by the Secret Service after discussing plans to assassinate the US president), and worst of all, the fact SA spawned the infamous “asshole of the internet” known as 4chan (and 8chan by proxy), sites that themselves have some shady sides, and I cannot understand why anyone other than the deranged, depraved, or incredibly stupid would be proud to be associated with such a vile website.
Then again, I’ve been a member of a few shameful websites, so I’m probably not one to talk, but none of them, to my knowledge, are as disgusting as the hole Ms. Shortridge calls one of her haunts.
Anyway, I mostly wrote this to point out I’m not surprised someone who apparently lives on Twitter like the rest of these middling SJW cretins comes from such weak stock and is apparently not very prudent in their choices. In fact, speaking of Twitter, Ms. Shortridge, against what surely had to be her better judgement, had the audacity to start the #GamerGatersAreNotGamers hashtag, something of which makes me wonder if the fumes from whatever hair care products she uses for achieving such a dark shade of blue have killed off one too many brain cells.
I myself am a gamer and game developer (in RPG Maker to be exact), GamerGate was founded by and large by gamers and that remains the focus, and if we aren’t gamers, than I beg Ms. Shortridge to explain away all the games on most gamers clearly linked Steam profiles, many of which have many hours logged for play on many things that fits the definition of a “game”.
(And yes, frail as they may be in the gameplay sense, I’ll count Depression Quest, Cibele, and Sunset [amongst other titles of similar repute], if for no other reason than to be generous)

However, that said, I nor any other gamer really have to justify ourselves to Ms. Shortridge, but if she wants us to have an excuse to show off, we gamers LOVE to show off our game collections and our prowess at playing them, and if that was her true intention and her rather childish spite and baseless accusations were little more than a clever ruse to secretly support us, then I salute her trolling skills.
Given the community she originated from, such tactics of “I was only pretending to be retarded” are not a surprise.
At any rate, I can’t really think of anything else I’d like to say at this point in time, and besides, I’m quite sure I’d better reserve my own words for more meaningful conversations (as Ms. Shortridge seems to have the market on foolish drivel cornered considering she has over 90,000 tweets on record and counting), and if she would care to comment on everything I’ve just written, I look forward to her response.
Of course, if that would take away far too much time from poor attempts at incitement and throwing out bait so hilariously poor even the dumbest fish would turn it’s nose up in disgust, then I understand what it means to have obligations and respect her decisions in any event.
And, on a totally serious note, I have no personal hatred of Ms. Shortridge for her views and opinions, I just think she’s young, misguided, and easily influenced by a bad crowd, and she has my prayers she will mature as a person and be able to look upon this part of her life later as an ill considered phase based on bad judgements, worse information, and a social circle in desperate need of reconsideration.
