Nha Trang City

Where to go

According to Nha Trang travel tips, there are many tourist destinations which can be divided into 3 main groups: cultural destination, Beach and Sun, and entertainment places. From temples to markets to museums to nature, there’s a large number of thing to see and do in Nha Trang City.
Combining the advantages and practicality of an urban locale with the beauty and serenity of a coastal fishing village, Nha Trang has a stream of attractions for all age groups and types of travellers — from conventional tourists to explorers looking to take the unbeaten path through town. We have the Pagoda Po Nagar, Long Son pagoda, Tower Tram Huong, Vinpearl theme park, the Cathedral in mountains, the Diamond Bay, Hon Tam Island, Institute of Oceanography in Nha Trang and many more attractions in Nha Trang.

Po Nagar Pagoda

If you are very bored with the crowds at Nha Trang beach, easy day trips to Bai Dai, the deserted northern Cam Ranh peninsula area and spectacular Doc Let give a totally different feeling.

Getting Around

The best way to have a tour around Nha Trang is on foot. Taxis, motorbikes and cyclos abound, agree on a price before getting on a motorbike or cyclos. You can rent a bicycle or motorbike.
Walking around the downtown is capable as the city is flat, major streets have footpaths and there is a beautiful promenade along the beach — though any form of exercise can be very uncomfortable in the midday heat. Motorbike taxis hang out in everywhere. Taxis are also abundant. You can go by meter but most locals we spoke to recommended agreeing on a fixed fare upfront or risk being driven around in circles. Or if you’re not in a rush, cyclos (three-wheel bicycle taxis) are a classic, fun way to tour the city in the evening.

When to Go

Nha Trang is hot and dry from January to August. While most of the South of Vietnam is turned into water for half of a year by monsoon winds, Nha Trang experiences only four “wet months”, from September till mid-December. During this period, typhoons have been known to run into the central region. During school holidays, domestic tourism increases dramatically, so if you’re looking for a more relaxing Nha Trang island tour break by the beach, it might be a good idea to steer clear of June and July.

Health and Safety

Mosquitoes are a real problem in Nha Trang — especially during the rainy season. Mosquito-borne illnesses such as malaria and dengue fever are prevalent in parts of Nha Trang, so remember to cover up and use repellent.
Many dogs, cats and monkeys carry rabies, avoid contact with animals and consider a rabies shot before you go.

Tap water is not safe to drink. To avoid sickness, particularly traveller’s diarrhoea, drink bottled or boiled water, eat only cooked, fresh foods and ask for no ice in your drinks.
