Congratulations on the appointment. For me, the idea of fair/wellbeing work sounds very exciting. It fits in with the different varieties of interactions that you have written about extensively elsewhere — top-down (hierarchical), collective co-operative, individualistic and fatalistic (my words, from memory).
I think we are in a time of paradigm shift, in which financial reward is no longer the main criterion for personal satisfaction and well-being. Others are coming to the fore, such as the need to feel useful, for one’s contribution to be valued; the chance to be responsible for one’s decisions. In other words, instead of paternalistic systems that treat us all like children, can society and the workplace accommodate us as adults?
