Let’s face it, Sketch is the best thing since sliced bread. The ability to create seamless designs without the need to link assets is pretty revolutionary.

But if you’ve been using Sketch for a while now, you’ve probably noticed a couple of problem areas when it comes to streamlining your design process. Fortunately, there are a bunch of like-minded folks who share our frustrations and have collaborated to create some excellent plugins to make our lives easier and workflows faster.

We’ve ruled out our top 5 plugins for your Sketching pleasure.

Align Artboards

Why you need it:

This plugin will distribute your Sketch artboards horizontally or vertically across your canvas – it’s pixel-perfect too so you don’t have to fiddle with spacing between artboards.

Where to find it:

Font Packer

Why you need it:

The days of trolling through artboards, pretending to be a typography pro are over. This plugin will identify the font you used and the instance allowing you to remove any fonts you don’t need.

Did we mention that Font Packer can also zip up any fonts you’ve used in your Sketch file? Because yeah, it can do that too.

Where to find it:

Craft Manager

Why you need it:

This plugin is filled with useful features like the ability to generate real imagery (pulled from Unsplash), people’s names, dummy copy, style guides, and duplicated content.

Side note: If you are working from the latest version of Sketch, make sure you restart Sketch from the Craft Manager in your menu bar.

Where to find it:

Find & Replace

Why you need it:

This plugin works just like the find/change tool in InDesign – Great for those times when a client would rather use an ampersand symbol instead of the word ‘and’ (we’ve all been there).

Where to find it:

ImageOptim

Why you need it:

If you’ve ever designed a very image heavy website you’ve probably noticed that this slows down Sketch a lot. This plugin batch compresses images anywhere from 80%-20% of the image’s original size in a matter of seconds, speeding up Sketch and saving you time that would have been previously lost in Photoshop.
