We express our sadness at the news of the death of our Queen Elizabeth 11, below are messages from Wokingham Council and the official Buckingham Palace announcements.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Her Majesty the Queen and the Royal Family at this sad time. The Queen sadly passed away today 8 September 2022 at the age of 96. Flags are flying at half mast at Wokingham Town All and Wokingham Brough Council Building and at all Churches across the Wokingham area. Queen Elizabeth 11 died at her county estate in Balmoral Castle Scotland with her family alongside her.HM Queen was the longest-reigning monarch in the UK, as the sad news broke people were gathering outside Windsor Castle Buckingham Place.

Her son King Charles III said the death of his beloved mother was a “moment of great sadness” for him and his family and that her loss would be “deeply felt” around the world.

He said: “We mourn profoundly the passing of a cherished sovereign and a much-loved mother.
