Commonly used dry agent for cobalt borate (cobalt linoleate), also known as cobalt dry agent or cobalt dry agent, is volatile liquid, transparent purple, surface to help dry strong. We use the toning oil, generally equipped with about 2% cobalt dry agent, can promote the color conjunctiva, fast drying, but not excessive use, otherwise the color surface is easy to wrinkle skin. In addition to cobalt dry agent, there are lead dry agent and manganese dry agent. But cobalt drying agent is an ideal drying agent in oil painting materials. Any drier can both accelerate the formation of the oil film and be counterproductive to the life of the oil film when used with care. In the painting process with Mati or Dama resin light oil color, also has the effect of drying.

Stabilizer: Oil paints produced by manufacturers are generally added with stabilizer to avoid the separation of pigments and oil in the long-term storage process. The materials used as stabilizers are mostly wax, metal soap and wax-like materials. The ideal stabilizer is beeswax. Wax not only increases the temperature of the pigment, but also lubricates and cushions it.

Cleaning agent has two functions: one is used to clean the dry picture of dust and stains; The other is to remove yellowing oil film or color trace. The solvent acting as cleaning agent has no water alcohol, ethyl acetate, turpentine, mixed xylene (or toluene), etc. The ideal cleaning agent is a mixture of acetone, benzene and turpentine. See “Preservation and Cleaning of Oil Painting” for details.
