One of ClearPoll’s major revenue streams is advertising space within the ClearPoll app and desktop platform.

Rather than run existing ad networks such as Google Admob, losing up to 95% of the revenue and lacking control and style, we decided to build our own ad provider.

Our users can create advertisements to display within certain areas of ClearPoll. We do not allow advertising on poll archive pages (showing active polls) because we don’t want ads to influence poll respondents’ decisions. Ads will be shown on historical archive pages, poll result pages and some other sections.

Users can select age, gender, location and poll category to show their ads. We run nice clean text and button only ads. No annoying images or rich media. No distractions, just simple, honest ads. Every ad is reviewed and must be approved by our moderators (we check that the ads are appropriate, and the destination website is legitimate and safe).

Here’s a preview of the ad creation screen:

As you can see, a live preview of the ad is shown on screen to give the ad creator an idea of how it looks, and alert them to any character limits.

ClearPoll ads are unobtrusive and a potentially great revenue earner — and as you know, 50% of all ClearPoll revenue goes back to you, the users, in the form of POLL token rewards.

The advertising system is a major step in development, and it is already functional, demonstrating our capabilities. Ads will not appear in alpha, but will be available from launch in August. If we don’t have an ad to serve in a category, we can run our own house ads, promoting our services further.

We hope you understand just how comprehensive the ClearPoll project is. It’s far more than just a polling app. It’s a complete decentralised public opinion service, a great business and a world changing application at the same time.

Thanks again for your support — stay tuned for some great news regarding the rewards system!
