According to a fresh report from Display Supply Chain Consultants researcher Ross Young and reported on by AppleInsider, Apple may release a 13.3-inch laptop with the 11-inch OLED iPad Pro and 12.9-inch iPad Pro. Young speculated that it may be a MacBook Air, a MacBook Pro, or something entirely different.

Young also claims that the OLED devices will employ a method known as “tandem stack,” which can reduce power usage by up to 30%, boost brightness, and extend the life of the display.

This isn’t the first time a new Apple laptop has been rumored following the company’s WWDC 2022 conference. There were also whispers that a 15-inch MacBook Air and a 12-inch laptop would be released in 2023.

But, given that the MacBook Air (M2) and MacBook Pro 13-inch (M2) are already on the way, and many of the greatest MacBook models from the Intel period are still available for purchase on various retail sites, this move would indicate that Apple is truly stacking the deck. While it’s fair that it wants to cover all of its market bases, the sheer number of laptop options alone risks oversaturating its own market and producing fatigue among its own followers.

There are also ongoing supply chain concerns, which have arisen as a result of COVID-related lockdowns and a global chip scarcity. Any future troubles could limit Apple’s product launches, which have already seen shipping delays on its 14-inch and 16-inch machines, so introducing yet another MacBook into the mix would not be as readily available for a long time, even for those who do want to buy it.
