Arabic Data Journalism Basics Book Is Coming Soon

Amr Eleraqi, the founder of InfoTimes, is going to print out his new book about data driven journalism during the first quarter of this year. The book is under the final review now.

The book is the first of its kind in Arabic and includes three main chapters; the first one is an introduction to data journalism, which reviews Eleraqi set of fundamentals needed to work on the press statements, required skills of journalist, team work components, the basics of building a good story of numbers in addition to a number of global examples.

Chapter two is dedicated to the data analyzing and collecting, explaining the skills and techniques of finding, purification and cleaning data and how to use the spread sheets in this stage.

While the third chapter is discussing data visualization and explaining the establishment of data, selection of colors and how to choose the right graph to fit the data perfectly.

about the Author

Amr Eleraqi is an Egyptian journalist experienced in data journalism and information design. His journey has started 10 years ago, he started as a business editor passing by extensive experience in print, TV and online journalism as he was an editor of Yahoo News in Dubai.

2012 was a turning point for him as he founded infotimes.org the first infographic website in the Middle East.

During the last two years he gave training for more than 500 person in cooperation with many organizations such as Internews, BBC Media Action, Infogr.am and ICFJ.

His concern at the current time is to spread the concept of data driven journalism in the Arab world to keep up with the momentum in data driven journalism in general all over the world.
