The New Philosopher Magazine’s most recent edition highlights the current state of education. Over 900 hours is the average time spent in a traditional classroom during ones journey through the current system. Meanwhile, over 2,500 hours is devoted to the “media curriculum” consumed through our devices. The problem is the subject matter that makes up the majority of the curriculum: sex, murder, and war. So, children today are essentially learning that formal and informal rules of society revolve around these subjects begging the question, what kind of citizen is the media teaching out children to be?
