The words of an anonymous Ivy League Admissions Officer, as reported by The New Yorker: “Oh, typical Asian student. Wants to become a doctor. Nothing special here” (Hsu 2018). Investigators at the Department of Education unveiled that Ivy League admissions officers are still unapologetically using stereotypes when evaluating East Asian applicants.
