The E3 congress: what is it?

Since 1995, the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) has been the most awaited showcase for the year’s biggest game announcements.

Video game publishers and companies from all over the world attended the event to introduce and advertise the upcoming games and game-related merchandise. Presented by the Entertainment Software Association (ESA), it is usually held in late May or early June at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

This year though, E3 was different. For the first time in its 23 year long history, E3 offered 15,000 public passes, giving fans from across the globe a chance to attend the most important and exclusive game experience ever. 15,000 passes out of 68,400 is a big slice. It meant the buzz and numbers were drastically influenced. A great and exciting start to open the E3 to the public.

The ultimate list: the podium

The E3 ended two weeks ago, it’s the right amount of time to collect all the informations of the upcoming games across the most clicked websites.

Here is the list of the games nominated by the BBC, Eurogamer, Gamescriticaward, Gamespot, Ign, Pcgamer, Pcworld, Polygon, The Guardian and Wired.

The Nazi Killer: Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus

Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus gets the best result across the net! 8 votes out of 10(Eurogamer, Gamecriticsawards, Gamespot, Ign, Pcgamer, Pcworld, Polygon, The Guardian). It’s coming to PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One on October 27.

Wolfenstein is a series of predominantly first-person shooter video games, although the first one, Castle Wolfenstein released in 1981 for Apple II, was one of the pioneers of the stealth game genre.

The third game of the series, Wolfenstein 3D, was famous to popularise the first-person shooter genre.

In all the franchise the main character is William “B.J.” Blazkowicz, who constantly fights against the Nazi powers. The New Order released in 2014 is set in an alternate history in which the Axis Powers won the Second World War.

The story of this new chapter takes place in 1961. Players will journey from Roswell, New Mexico to gator-filled New Orleans to post-nuclear New York. “Equip an arsenal of badass guns, and unleash new abilities to blast your way through legions of advanced Nazi soldiers, cyborgs, and über soldiers in this definitive first-person shooter,” Bethesda said in an official announcement.

The Italian plumber: Super Mario Odyssey

Super Mario Odyssey, the new adventure of our beloved Italian plumber a 3D platform video game developed for the Nintendo Switch wins the second place with 7 votes (BBC, Eurogamer, Gamecriticsawards, Gamespot, Ign, Polygon, The Guardian) and will also be released on October 27.

In this chapter Mario travels across many worlds known as “Kingdoms” on his hat-shaped ship, to rescue, as usual, Princess Peach from Bowser.

Each kingdom has his a unique style, ranging from photo-realistic cities to more fantasy-based worlds.

This time Mario is able to throw his cap called Cappy to attack enemies. When the cap is thrown at certain objects, enemies, or non-playable characters, Mario is able to take possession of them, allowing him to use unique abilities.

The game also features cooperative play in which a second player, who takes control of Cappy, can attack enemies independently of Mario.

The Nintendo and Ubisoft Crossover: Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle

In the third place we found Mario again: Mario+Rabbids Kingdom Battle gets 7 votes (BBC, Eurogamer, Gamecriticsawards, Gamespot, Ign, Polygon, Wired).

Can you imagine Mario and his friends fighting against the adorable Raving Rabbids? You just need to have a Nintendo Switch and wait until August 2017.

Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle is a role-playing video game with turn-based combat and elements of exploration. You can select eight characters:

  • Mario: The Leader
  • Luigi: The Eagle Eye
  • Yoshi: The Explosive Head
  • Princess Peach: The Badass Princess
  • Rabbid dressed as Mario: The Macho Man
  • Rabbid dressed as Luigi: The Unstable
  • Rabbid dressed as Yoshi: The Crazy One
  • Rabbid dressed as Peach: #Sassy #Nofilter

All fully loaded with laser beams guns.

While turn-based RPGs and strategy games tend to focus on the single-player experience, Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle includes two-player cooperative play. However, this is limited to a challenge mode — both players can use one Joy-Con controller to play this mode.

Conclusion

Whether you agree or disagree with this list, one things is for sure: The real Winner of the E3 is Nintendo.

All the rumours around Nintendo Switch, the console to play wherever you want, were founded. Zelda: Breath of the Wild was already a good reason to buy the new console but with the upcoming games it will definitely conquer all the player hearts.

That’s it from E3 2017. I wish you a year full of great games! ;)
