Tips on how to use social media properly.

Social media is very dangerous specially to those who doesn’t know how to use apps

Properly or to those who are reckless. Many cases does not include age no matter what your age is you can be a victim, as long as you are not using social media like its how to be used.

• The safest media platforms for me:

Personally I feel safe in Facebook and other social media platforms that are in lined with

It Instagram, twitter etc.. I’m a student so I use different kinds of media platforms I would

strongly recommend social media platforms that are protected by google.

• Harmful social media platforms that I do not recommend using:

First is that “above 18” sites, I my self strongly disagree in using those sites because if it is

left on your computer it cannot only harm you but also your kids too.

Second is the dating sites, those kind of social media site can harm and put you in danger

worst case scenario you can end up being trafficked or black mailed by those who you speak

with.

• Social media platforms you should stay away from:

According to Google the most dangerous social media site is the “Deepweb” as what I’ve read

the “deepweb” contains content that is disturbing and almost all the people who come there

is a “Hacker”.

A hacker can go through your computer without them even touching it, they can go through

your private documents without you knowing it and that kind of action can lead to theft or

black mailing and put you or your loved ones in danger. Also stay away from websites that are

not verified by google and as long as possible stay away from websites that are requiring you to

give them “some” of your personal information.

• What kind of social media accounts do I have:

Well to start is Facebook, Instagram and twitter I also have accounts on google and almost

everything that is lined with it since I am a student and classes are held through that apps.

I am required to have many social media accounts because of that, because I am a student

many individuals are also required to have many social media accounts either it is for work

or to contact their loved ones that are far from them.

• How I use my social media account:

I use my social media accounts like any other individual but with proper restrictions and limits,

I use them carefully and read every “Agree of terms” before I click the “check” button.

It’s important that you read what you approve so that you may know what will be the actions

of your approval. If you are struggling to understand what is stated on the “Agree of terms”

it is best to seek for help so that you wont make the wrong decision.

• Social media crimes that can get you to jail:

findlaw.com (2017)

Online Threats, Stalking, Cyberbullying -The most commonly reported and seen crimes that occur on social media involve people making threats, bullying, harassing, and stalking others online. While much of this type of activity goes unpunished, or isn’t taken seriously, victims of these types of crimes Hacking and Fraud -Although logging into a friend’s social media account to post an embarrassing status message may be forgivable between friends, it, technically, can be a serious crime. Additionally, creating fake accounts, or impersonation accounts, to trick people (as opposed to just remaining anonymous), can also be punished as fraud depending on the actions the fake/impersonation account holder takes. Buying Illegal Things -Connecting over social media to make business connections, or buy legal goods or services may be perfectly legitimate. However, connecting over social media to buy drugs, or other regulated, controlled or banned products is probably illegal. Posting Videos of Criminal Activity -As smartphone and social media technology continue to improve hand in hand, more and more criminals are posting videos of their crimes on social media. While this sounds somewhat horrifying, it really is just short-sighted as more and more police departments and prosecutors are able to rely on these videos to arrest and convict these criminals. Vacation Robberies -Sadly, one common practice among burglars is to use social media to discover when a potential victim is on vacation. If your vacation status updates are publicly viewable, rather than restricted to friend groups, then potential burglars can easily see when you are going to be away for an extended period of time.

• The consequences if you do not use social media responsibly:

It’ll not be only you who’ll get harmed but also your loved ones, they can either get money from you, black mail you and it can even indager your own life. The consequences of irresponsible use of social media is limitless and it is too many to even mention. Use social media responsibly so that you’ll never go through that consequences.

• Secure your accounts:

Change your passwords be more private don’t let anyone else know that even your most trusted friend can stab you while your not looking. There are many cases of a person black mailing his or her own friend just to get money from them or just to get what they want from them.

• To do’s if you encountered a certain kind of crime:

Find a specialist we have our trusted professionals that can help you and are trained to so what is right, seek for help immediately and don’t panic

• Thinking before clicking:

Always remember the phrase "think before you click" it is really just and appropriate to just sit there for a few minutes and think through what you are gonna "approve" on your account for it may indager you and harm you.

Let’s be wiser on how we use our social media accounts and be more open minded of what it is to happen, mistakes cannot be undone but it can be prevented and always remember "think before you click".
