Shielding Against the Devil’s Schemes: Praying for Protection through the Armor of God
Do you ever feel like your enemy is constantly working against you, trying to steer you away from God? Are there days when your efforts are met with discouragement and disappointment? If so, put on the armor of God. This armor protects you not against humans, but against the rulers, authorities, cosmic forces, and spiritual forces of darkness in the celestial realm who reign over darkness. Like the armor warriors wear in battle, we must put on divine defense through prayer and God’s word to ensure our soul remains safe and protected in life’s challenges.
In this blog post, I want to share an encouraging prayer that I say every morning and night, using the words of God from Ephesians 6:10–18 in the Bible. It’s a way to put on the armor of God and stand firm against the Devil’s schemes.
Finally, grow powerful in union with the Lord, in union with his mighty strength! Use all the armor and weaponry that God provides, so that you will be able to stand against the deceptive tactics of the Adversary. For we are not struggling against human beings, but against the rulers, authorities and cosmic powers governing this darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realm. So take up every piece of war equipment God provides; so that when the evil day comes, you will be able to resist; and when the battle is won, you will still be standing. Therefore, stand! Have the belt of truth buckled around your waist, put on righteousness for a breastplate, and wear on your feet the readiness that comes from the Good News of shalom. Always carry the shield of trust, with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the Evil One. And take the helmet of deliverance; along with the sword given by the Spirit, that is, the Word of God; as you pray at all times, with all kinds of prayers and requests, in the Spirit, vigilantly and persistently, for all God’s people (Ephesians 6:10–18, CJB Version).
Heavenly Father,
I come before You through Jesus Christ, acknowledging that You have given names to every family on earth and in heaven, including my own. Today, I humbly kneel before You, expressing my sincere gratitude and love. Thank You for blessing me with this new day.
Father of the Most High, I am grateful for Your divine plans and for sending Your Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, into the world to save us from perishing. I thank You for the cross, the gift of new and eternal life, and the presence of Your Holy Spirit in my life. I am truly thankful for my precious family, which You have entrusted to me. I glorify Your name and praise You throughout eternity. May Your name be exalted forever.
Yours, Adonai, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory and the majesty; for everything in heaven and on earth is yours. The kingdom is yours, Adonai; and you are exalted as head over all. Riches and honor come from you, you rule everything, in your hand is powerand strength to all. Therefore, our God, we thank you and praise your glorious name (1 Ch).
You, my Father in the Most High, are our firm rock and refuge. Without you, we are vulnerable to enemy attacks. Throughout this day, from now until we sleep at night (for the night and the next day: throughout this night, until we wake up in the morning, and from the moment we wake up tomorrow morning until we sleep tomorrow night), against me and my family, the Other (the Devil’s) I wish you to eliminate all the traps he has set, to go before us in all visible and invisible battles, to take off your small shield and your big shield and fight the enemy on our behalf, to protect and guide us, to arm us with your strong armor so that we can be equipped against the enemy’s plans and the negative effects of the world.
Lord, I humbly ask for your love and protection for me and my family today. Please provide us with strength and guidance in the face of any difficulties or challenges that may come our way. With heartfelt gratitude, I entrust myself and my loved ones into your caring hands. Please shield us both physically and spiritually at the highest level. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I pray for your blessings upon us.
Heavenly Father, we humbly acknowledge our frailty and helplessness before You. You are fully aware of all our weaknesses and vulnerabilities. May You, in Your infinite power, equip us with Your divine armor and fortify us with Your unmerited favor. With Your unwavering guidance and unending grace, may we strive to become the best versions of ourselves, both now and forever. May everything we undertake be a testament to Your glory and a tribute to the Son of God who reigns supreme.
Oh Lord, we humbly seek your protection for our hearts, thoughts, minds, and bodies. May we be fortified with your mighty armor, enabling us to spread your love, joy, peace, and most importantly, your good news to all. Almighty Father, through Jesus Christ, we now equip ourselves with the armor and spiritual strength you have bestowed upon us. This will enable us to stand firm against the schemes of the enemy both now and forever.
In the name of Jesus Christ, we declara that we put on the whole armor and spiritual armor of God, knowing that this is the only way to resist the plans and attacks of the enemy, and throughout this day and from now until we sleep tonight (for the night and the next day: throughout this night I declare, on behalf of myself and my family, that we will remain equipped with this armor and spiritual weapons until we wake up in the morning and from the moment we wake up tomorrow morning until we sleep tomorrow night).
For our struggle is not against men, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.
Therefore, in the name of Jesus Christ, we put on the full armor and spiritual armor of God, to be able to withstand the evil day, to be able to stand our ground after we have done all that is necessary (repenting for all our mistakes and sins that have ever happened, forgiving everyone with your grace and choosing to love), throughout this day, from now until we sleep tonight (for the night and the next day: throughout this night, until we wake up in the morning, and from the moment we wake up tomorrow morning, until we sleep tomorrow night).
In the name of Jesus Christ, we first put on the belt of truth to protect us from lies and errors. Let the belt of truth be an armor that will protect us from what is said about us, from the lies we tell others, and from the delusions we tell ourselves.
You are the way, the truth and the life, Lord Jesus Christ. We cannot reach the Father except through you (John 14:6). We need You, Lord Jesus Christ, to reach the Father and get closer to Him. For this reason, we wear You, my Lord Jesus Christ, from our head to our toes, 360 degrees, without any revealing.
Most High Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, we put on the armor of righteousness, asking you to help us live righteous lives, not by our own strength or will, but by the power of your Holy Spirit within us. May we be transformed each day into the image of your Son, Jesus Christ, so that we may reflect your glory and goodness to the world around us.
“How blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness! For they will be filled” (Matthew 5:6), you said. Amen, Lord. I pray that you will satisfy us with your righteousness and make us happy.
In the name of Jesus Christ, we stand with our feet prepared to proclaim the Good News of peace. I pray that you will give us feet ready to share the Gospel with those who need your love and grace most. May you hold us by the hand, helping us to be courageous in our testimony, even in the face of persecution or rejection. I also pray that You would give us the spirit of courage, strength, love, and self-control to preach Your Gospel, and Lord, wherever You want us to preach the Gospel, You would take us to those lands, the places You want, and use us.
In addition to all this, in the name of Jesus Christ we take up the shield of faith with which we can extinguish all the fiery arrows of the Other. I pray that you will grow us in faith and expand the boundaries of the shield of faith to surround us, horizontally, vertically and in all directions, 360 degrees.
Most High Father, as I take up your shield of faith, may you increase my faith and trust in You through Jesus Christ, granting us the grace to have a deep and abiding trust in Your goodness and Your plans for our lives, even when things don’t make sense or we face trials and tribulations.
In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we put on the helmet of salvation. I declare, in the name of Jesus Christ, that with this helmet our thoughts are protected against the fiery arrows of the Other. Dear God, grant us grace to let the Spirit and mind of Christ work in us through Jesus Christ.
In the name of Jesus Christ, we take the sword of the Spirit in our other hand. I pray, Father God, through Jesus Christ, that you would help us to know and understand your Word, so that we can use this sword with power and effectiveness, and that you would give us wisdom, understanding, wisdom, the spirit of revelation and the spirit of prophecy, and that you would reveal to us your secrets, speaking to us with your living word. In the name of Jesus Christ, may your Word be a lamp to our feet and a light to our path, guiding us in every decision and choice we make.

Almighty Father, through Jesus Christ, I pray that You would work in us and direct us to do and desire what pleases You.
