A Few Pointers for Protesting While White

having only read one article by this author, i can’t really assert my instinctual sense that he’s trying to point out his exceptionalism among white people. nor do i feel comfortable saying that i’ve never encountered anyone who believes that, for the entirety of white people, there is no exception. but this article does ring true. in the midst of racism existing in every race and directed at every race — including one’s own race — there is still the much greater issue of institutional racism and its ever present legacy. some times its good to recognize race and, admittedly, the kinds of roles we need to assign ourselves at some of these protests. interestingly enough, sometimes that’s just how we work together for the common good.
