The Victory of Abu Q’aq’a al-Muhajir
Abu Q’aq’a al-muhajir, a young mujahid who finished memorizing the Holy Quran when he was ten. He emigrated with his family in 1435/2013 to the blessed land of Ash-Sham. They didn’t emigrate to Ash-Sham due to poverty nor need but they fled to answer the calls of the fearful shrieks and the clatters of arms and to escape from the tumultuous trials like parts of the dark night as indeed they knew that the Messenger of Allah praise and peace be upon him has stated:
“ …. Indeed the faith when the tribulations occur is in ash-Sham.“ Al-Musnad of Imam Ahmad
“ …. It has been revealed to me that I am going to die and will not stay long, and you will follow me, group, after group, striking one another's necks. And the place of safety for the believers is Ash-Sham.” As-Sunan of An-Nasa’i
It didn't take Abu Q’aq’a long, after reaching the blessed land at the age of thirteen, before he started his journey to become a mujahid, a fighter for Allah's Words to be superior and a defender of the weak and oppressed Muslims. He quickly joined the ranks of the mujahidin in their military camps where he was to spend months learning and training.
He went through several courses where he studied weapon and military tactics, sniping, military fortification, topography, maps and became well known with the use of mortars, AK 47 and PKM. He would struggle hard to reach the criteria of each course and would never give up and with the help of the Almighty, he would always be amongst the best.
At the age of fifteen, after two years of training and learning, he started to guard the frontiers of Ash-Sham from the aggression and tyranny of the apostasies and disbelievers. He made Ribat in Idlib, Aleppo, Hama, and As-Sahil.
Some of the Ribat points were pretty tough especial in the wintertime where the patience of long hours of guarding the frontiers is tested by freezing temperatures and snow to the knees. The great sacrifice and the life-threatening challenge of Ribat never made him lose the spirit and zest but only strengthened his hope that the blood of the martyrs, the cries of the bereaved in the debris and the screams of the children underneath the ruins one day will be answered with:
“ And declare, The Truth has come and falsehood has vanished, for falsehood is ever bound to vanish.” Al-Israa : 81
Along with his Ribat, he slowly started to join the columns of the mujahidin at the battlefields. He was several times target with bombs and mortars but was with the grace of the Mercy never badly injured. The love of jihad was winning his heart and whenever the mujahidin were to set out without him his heart would be filled with sadness and his eyes with tears.
His leisure was filled with riding horses, hunting, football and running. In general, he had a great passion for sports and was always ready for a challenge. His horsemanship became so excellent that he was pointed out as a horse trainer for the Mujahidin.
One day his mother woke up crying out of joy. She told the family that she had seen Abu Q’aq’a in her dream. He was wearing white close and his face was shining. He looked at his father and said: “ Oh father! The airplane has bombed me but I am still alive .” She was sure that this was a good dream with good tidings and whenever Abu Q’aq’a went to Ribat or battle she would wait for the dream to come true.
Then the day was to come where the long waiting good tidings were to show its light. The battle of Hama was to start and Abu Q’aq’a was chosen to be in the battalion of infantry soldiers. He felt joy and satisfaction that Allah had chosen him to be amongst the Mujahidin at the front line and could now finally prove to his Creator how strongly he yearned to enter the Gardens of the martyrs.
On the day of departure, he woke up with a smile on his face but he kept secret to his family what was behind the smile. They were to know later trough his comrades that he had seen in his dream that he was going to be killed in battle.
His battalion was ordered to attack a village in Hama which was occupied by the apostasies. He was given the PKM and pointed out to be in the front of the battalion. The battle started after the Maghreb Prayer and continued until the Fajr Prayer. They succeeded to vanquish the enemy and conquer the village. The enemy had lost in front of Allah’s worries and could as usual only be protected from the strikes of the Mujahidin through their inept courtly tactic “ burn the ground “. In this indiscriminate bombing, Abu Q’aq’a and two of his comrades were honored with the martyrdom, as we regard it and Allah knows best. His body was blown to pieces and nothing of him was left except pieces of flesh on one of his comrades pants. Nothing left in this worldly life but with the will of Allah an eternal life in the Gardens of the Hereafter.
“ Think not of those, who are slain in the way of Allah, as dead. Nay, they are living. With their Lord they have provision.” Al-i'Imran :169
It has been narrated on the authority of Masruq Who said: We asked 'Abdullah about the Qur'anic verse: " Think not of those who are slain in Allah's way as dead. Nay, they are alive, finding their sustenance in the presence of their Lord." He said: We asked the meaning of the verse (from the Holy Prophet) who said: “ The souls of the martyrs live in the bodies of green birds who have (their nests in) chandeliers hung from the throne (of the Almighty). They eat the fruits of Paradise from wherever they like and then nestle in these chandeliers. Once their Lord cast a glance at them and said: Do ye desire anything? They said: What more shall we desire? We eat the fruit of Paradise from wherever we like. Their Lord asked them the same question thrice. When they saw that they will continue to be asked. They said: Oh Lord, we wish that Thou mayest return our souls to our bodies so that we may be slain in Thy way once again. When He (Allah) saw that they had no need, they were left (to their joy in heaven).” Muslim
Here ends the story of the seventeen years old hafidh and Mujahid Abu Q’aq’a. A short life if we consider his age but a long life filled with great worshiping if we consider his deeds, may the Generous, the Lord of Majesty and Bounty accept them.
Salman May Allah be pleased with him reported: I heard the Messenger of Allah praise and peace be upon him as saying, “ Observing Ribat in the way of Allah for a day and night is far better than observing fasting for a whole month and standing in prayer (in all its nights). If a person dies (while performing this duty), he will go on receiving his reward for his meritorious deeds perpetually, and he will be saved from Al- Fattan.” Muslim
'Uthman may Allah be pleased with him reported: I heard the Messenger of Allah praise and peace be upon him saying: “ Spending a day protecting the frontier in Allah's way is better than one thousand days in any other place.” At-Tirmidhi and An-Nasa’i
‘Imran bin Husain narrated that the Messenger of Allah praise and peace be upon him said: “ A man standing in the line in the path of Allah is better than a man worshiping sixty years.” Ad-Darimi, Al-Hakim in Al-Mustadrak and Al-Bazzar
He adorned his memorizing of the Holy Quran with jihad and Ribat and sold his young soul to the Lord of the Worlds, knowing that there is no one more true in fulfilling his promise than Allah.
“ Indeed Allah has purchased from the believers their persons and their wealth and in return has promised them paradise; they fight in the cause of Allah and slay and are slain. This is a true promise which is binding on Him mentioned in Taurat (Torah), the Injeel (Gospel) and the Qur'an; and who is more true in fulfilling his promise than Allah? Rejoice, therefore, in the bargain which you have made, and that is a mighty achievement.” At-Tauba :111
It is like Allah, the Inheritor of All, wanted for Abu Q’aq’a to leave a testimony to the Islamic nation as He ordered the soul of Abu Q’aq’a to be taken after the last Verse he read of his daily recitation of the Quran before he left for battle:
“ Say, "I am only a man like you, to whom has been revealed that your god is one God. So whoever would hope for the meeting with his Lord - let him do righteous work and not associate in the worship of his Lord anyone.” Al-Kahf : 110
