Driving Decentralization in Our Governance
Interchain Foundation is always striving towards further decentralization in its governance. We are delighted to announce the expansion of the Foundation Council with the appointment of luminary academic Dr. Fernando Pedone and Proof-of-Stake thought leader Brian Fabian Crain. Their advocacy and expertise will be invaluable to Interchain Foundation as we continue our important work towards creating open-source, cryptographic, consensus-driven, economic networks.
These recent additions further Interchain Foundation’s goal of improving its governance structure. The expanded Foundation Council will work with the Board of Management to grow the Cosmos ecosystem and bring the critical and highly anticipated Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC) features and functionalities to life. In this role, Fernando and Brian will be responsible for guiding the Foundation’s strategic direction, contributing their expertise on the topics of research, engineering, business, product, community, and social good.
We couldn’t have asked for better additions. Dr. Fernando Pedone — a doyen of Computer Science whose tenure in science and academia complements the expertise of the Foundation Council — we look forward to his research steeped guidance and support through the next phase of Cosmos development. An award-winning academic with 25 years experience in research and development of consensus and fault-tolerant distributed systems, Fernando has taught at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) and is currently a Professor at the Faculty of Informatics and Co-Director of the FinTech Master program at the University Della Svizzera Italiana.
A long-standing influential player in the Cosmos ecosystem, Brian Fabian Crain is the CEO & Co-Founder of Chorus One, one of the leading validators and infrastructure builders around Proof-of-Stake and interoperability. Before co-founding Chorus One, Brian was COO at All in Bits (Tendermint Inc.) where he helped lead the Cosmos 2017 fundraise and start its Berlin base at Full Node. Brian was also the Head of Business Development at Monax, the first company to build enterprise applications on Ethereum and to build on Tendermint. Brian is Co-Founder of one of the most established blockchain podcasts — Epicenter — essential listening for anyone interested in the space. In his new role, Brian will foster collaboration to support the vibrant Cosmos ecosystem, while also working to better define the role of the Cosmos Hub in the Internet of Blockchains and how it can provide value.
